A presbyterian coworker over here once told me that Jews and Mormons will probably go to heaven with the protestants, but Catholics won't. (there's two branches of Presbyterians here... One pretty radical and the other pretty laid back and permissive.. I don't recall which is which... But the extreme branch is more similar to the Southern Baptists in it's fire and brimstone approach)

Statements like that make me suspect it's more about inherent bias against Catholicism that is taught by the Southern US churches rather than any real dogmatic concerns.

Go for it, what else would we discuss on the Liverpool Board?

    Decking.

The real question about transubstantiation has to be if the 3 apostles were up on a hill and like.moses and elijah came and Jesus changed into George Clooney or Brad Pitt of whatever... why did they want to pitch tents

Flag for Republic of Liverpool. I like the first suggestion although it looks a bit Spanish. Anything with blue on it needs to be rejected out of principle. <whistle>

I see transgender is in the news again after the Olympics committee ruled that anyone born male will not be allowed to compete in female competitions; or is it just swimming?

It's already looking like it'll be argued in the courts claiming its discriminatory.

However, to the point... was reading some of the comments online (some very funny, some offensive) and saw one that said they should introduce a new category where "anything goes"; sexually doesn't matter, drug abuse welcome, etc

Obviously immoral and won't ever happen (rightly so) but thought the concept was very interesting, imagine the 100m record being smashed by two seconds <laugh>

It seems a lot of sports are wrangling with this one.

Its seems Its the female side that's not happy which is kind of fun and games given the demand for equality for years and years.

It is literally down to a very few people relatively speaking not allowed to compete at whatever level but putting off people from trying to play sport if they are trans etc.

I'd like to avoid making sweeping statements about transgender people here if possible.

Anything goes is not an appropriate category for men who want to transition to women. IMo thats just demonstrating of the lack of empathy and understanding we have to the issues and whoever made that comment just shows that.

In general if you want a drugs sport go have a drugs sport like LIV golf which is in effect doping on a grand scale. just don't expect me to bother with it. It'll be juiced up MEN (nobody else) doing whatever sports

If the question is this: Can I cake a juiced up women and run them against a trans athlete who used to be a man then can the juice up women win..... tell thats tantamount to being like romans watch gladiators. We only need to go look at the record books to understand the outcomes.

The only actual runner we know who's not be caught is Usain bolt right. so lets chop his nuts off and put lipstick on him. he ran at 9.58s at his best right?
Now lets look at the juiced woman. Florence Griffith-Joyner 10.49s. i think she dropped dead of a heart attack so we all know the score.

Its pretty clear anything goes will be a pretty ****ing boring procession of juiced males until someone decides that bionics are the way to go and starts lopping off legs at the shin to add spings like the south african murderer

The science still seems a bit unclear on how much different treatments affect what and how much advantage remains, and until there are definitive answers on that, which presumably won't be for a while at least, any transgender who wins in the female competitions is, rightly or wrongly, always going to have a question mark as to how "fair" it was.

The anything goes category reminds me of Red Dwarf where they just give up and allow all forms of drugs and genetic engineering. Scotland develop a goalkeeper the same size and shape as the goal, but still can't get past the group stage at the World Cup.

quite a few have started taking this sort of stance , cycling here for example . and i assume Rugby will very soon as the dangers of men who have transitioned is already known .

Potentially, there could be four categories...
    Male
    Female
Females born that are now male
Male born that are now female

...I don't see another way around it tbh but are there enough competitors in the bottom two categories (not listed in any particular order)
