I would 100% have Lucas over Richarlison or Jesus, I also don't think either are worth £30 million more than Bergjwin
I was very much full of belief that Jesus would sign for Arsenal, because of the Arteta link and also because I imagine Pep would absolutely hate to strengthen us, especially this season. Now I think about it though, if Conte wants him, the fact that we are in the Champions League may be a larger factor than I imagined, at least for the player. (Isn't this what they kept banging on about when we weren't in the CL? "The best players want to play in the Champions League!!" All bloody day long! ) The plan of course was that Arsenal would have been in the CL instead of us and the transfer of ‘wealth’ to Arsenal could commence. I could even see Sterling going there too if they were in the CL. Pep could help his 'younger', Arteta, with his mini City B team project. It appears we may have somewhat disrupted the plans by our very presence in the top 4. Is still don't see us getting Jesus, but I can imagine him having more to think about whilst making his choice. 'What does it say about his aMbiTioN if he goes to Arsenal?' I believe Conte smells the blood of Arsenal, and might well be looking to kill the opponent before the season has even begun.
For certainty on being the lead forward, +/- possibly higher wages, tis possible a player would decline nominal guarantees of CL participation (which is the case at Citeh) . "I believe Conte smells the blood of Arsenal, and might well be looking to kill the opponent before the season has even begun." I expect Spurs to be making an offer at the minimum on a 'let the numbers decide' analysis. My cursory analysis yesterday suggests that for : - PL games the player is initially better suited for combos where he is in the starting XI (I trust Kane and Son to come on with 30 mins to go and inflict serious damage no matter what the score is at that time) . - CL games he should have a decent impact as a sub
Jesus won’t leave a backup/ rotation spot on City’s bench for ours, even if he we’d offer more game time overall than what he gets at City. I think he’s nailed on for Arsenal so long as they stump up the cash. Guaranteed starts and knows Arteta, sounds like they really want him too, top target by most accounts. We don’t seem overly motivated to get him, wouldn’t surprise me if we’ve just been name dropped into the equation to speed up a deal or we’re just being dicks and trying to force Arsenal to pay more for him by making it seem like he’s in demand, latter would be quite funny albeit doubtful. As I said last night, I do genuinely think we’ll move for Richarlison. Whether we get him or not is less certain but I can see Paratici making one or two bids, especially once Bergwijn leaves.
Fabrizio saying we are both, along with Chelsea, in talks for Raphinha. A move to Barcelona seemed like it was inevitable, but they can't seem to agree a fee with Leeds, so that deal seems like it's close to being dead in the water. We're in direct negotiations with Leeds, and you and Chelsea have been in contact with them too. Estimated price tag for him is between €65m-75m (£55m - £65m). I'd certainly take him, but can't see how we afford him unless we get rid of Pepe first. I'm guessing you lot would take him too, but wouldn't he be a backup player for you? Presumably, he doesn't start ahead any of Kane, Son or Kulusevski? And surely, if you're in for Richarlison, you wouldn't sign both him and Raphinha?
The most important part is that Leeds are reportedly lining up Adama Traore as Raphinha's replacement, thus sparing us another window of being linked with him...
I think Raphinha would be a great option and would prefer him over Jesus and Richarlison. The only obvious concern is its a huge chunk of the budget and still no direct back up for Kane
Yeah I’d take him too, we need good depth in the attacking positions, Bergwijn’s off and Lucas could depart too but even if on the odd chance they somehow stay, neither have done enough over the course of seasons to impact enough games and so we need different (and hopefully better) options. Crazily enough, we could probably afford both him and Richarlison if we wanted but I doubt we’d go for both. I think Richarlison is Paratici’s top target based off of whispers and rumours so I wouldn’t expect a move for Raphinha unless we hit a wall with Richarlison or Chelsea beat us too him.
That’s why I believe Richarlison is our top target, he’s the one who can properly lead a line as well as play out wide. I can’t stand the prick but he’s the one most suited to our needs from a positional perspective.
I don't hate Richarlison, hes obviously got talent. My biggest problem is his consistency, I remember when he first signed for Watford he looked brilliant then his form fell off a cliff after Christmas. Again with Everton, he either looks really good or completely anonymous. I think he will be like another Bergjwin or Lucas in he has the odd good game but is largely ineffective.
Apparently, West Ham let us have a free run at signing Bissouma... https://www.claretandhugh.info/hammers-gave-spurs-a-free-run/ Comedy gold, mate.
"Mark Noble's retired. Would you like to replace him with Yves Bissouma on the cheap?" "Nah". Yeah, ok!
Think that stemmed from a lazy article saying he could be a casualty for Bissouma’s arrival, as if they think 3 CMs (assuming Winks left and then Hojbjerg) was going to be enough for a possible 50+ game season.
