Doubt we'll see Ally though, he's been on international duty, so imagined he'll get extra time off. Same with KLP too
I've not a clue. I did sort of assume the delay in announcements was due to them not being in Hull for all the pictures etc. But it wouldn't surprise me if a few rocked up at training tomorrow. It's still so early, and I think that's what people are forgetting. We've got 3 in the door but seem well on with another 2, and then there's Baxter if Chelsea decide to let him go and Twine if we can get a deal done. The speed we're getting through our business has been quite outstanding
The speed is only accurate if we actually finalise deals. At this stage it's all just paper talk. Actually confirming the deals would give a bit more excitement and confidence around the club. End of the day as you say it's still incredibly early in the window so not a huge issue, but would be good to have a few confirmed sooner rather than later.
Or should that read "The speed we're TRYING to get through our business has been quite outstanding"? Seems like there's a lot of activity and rumours, but nothing is done until it's done. Wasn't there a hitch with the Tufan deal? Nothing's for certain until it appears on post #1 of this thread. FACT.
That doesn't mean they aren't done, it just means they've not been announced. The club have been briefing Baz since they got here, they've even given him a list of the players we want. Acun's been on TV saying Tufan will sign. It's a lot more than pure speculation Like I said, it's still mega early in the window. And technically Seri and Traore are still under contract with their previous club until the end of the month. On top of that visa/work permits have to be obtained and the players need to move to a different country
Ok? That's kind of my point. We haven't announced anything. We could have signed Ronaldo, but until it's announced, it's all speculation isn't it? Otherwise why announce anything, just wait for the first game and see who's on the team sheet. It's amazing that players are still under contract so can't be announced for us but every other club around is able to announce signings of free agents. They don't seem to have the same issues we do! I just think people like to come up with excuses for why things haven't been announced when the fact of the matter is things haven't been finalised yet. Which is fine, but let's get off the notion that we have 3-4 players lined up ready to go when there's still hoops to jump through.
Feels a bit weird having Baz as basically the mouthpiece of the club. Is he not meant to be an independent journalist? If the club does something requiring criticism is he going to dare say anything for fear of losing his links to club news?
But the signing is done when the contract is signed, but once it is we then have to apply for a work permit and visas. And these bits do have a tendency to take a while and it doesn't make sense to announce them until all this stuff is completed. It's hardly like we're lagging behind, I think there's only been a couple of signings in the Championship which has required a fee so far. Most clubs haven't done anything
Right.. as I said still hoops to jump through. You also tend to see players announced "Pending work permit and visa" so that's hardly something that can hold up announcing a signing. Think there's a bit more to it than you're making out. For a third time, yes it's very early in the window and hardly panic stations or anything ridiculous. Just nothing to get over the top about when we haven't announced anything yet. For the record though, Cardiff have signed about 5 players, one of whom is from Europe on a free transfer so the 'technically contract doesn't end until the end of June' excuse didn't stop them.
Yes, and those are the deals usually announced near to deadline day. I've not gone over the top, I've just said the speed we've done our business is outstanding, which it has been. I'm sure some will be announced next week and probably some more the week after too. They're also the first proper signings of Acun's reign and he might want to tie in new sponsors or anything.
