I came over here during the dell takeover period, mainly due to Reiver (Smug) leaving/banned from over there and posting updates on here. Though I didn't post much, I liked the updates, but on rtg the thread became a hard read due to the constant sniping and bitterness going on. When I came over here I found it much pleasant (?).... it felt more like adults talking, more balanced.
It may not have the traffic that rtg has, but tbh, I prefer that. For me it not the quantity of posts, it's the quality....and for that this place wins hands down.

Most of what I posted, during that period, has now become public knowledge or at least generally accepted as based on fact. At worst it's seen as possible. Even the crazier sounding stuff about Sheepfolds, the station renovation, being advised by an ex-England manager, Donald moving the goalposts and cocking things up, etc.

Where I made the mistake, being a fanatical supporter, was to see a WhatsApp message from 'Dell' saying he'd agreed to buy SAFC as the deal being done.

In my defence it was from a billionaire and not some chancer like Storey so I went along with it all. When I was subsequently shown feasibility studies for the stadium approach, AOL, ticket office/shop I assumed it was all done and dusted.

As I'd been freely given the info about Fuhrman agreeing to buy the club, turning down a deal from Ashley, the plans for the club I couldn't wait to tell everyone.

Sadly there are some people apparently desperate for nothing good to ever happen to the club or who can't grasp some people bump into wealthy people in the course of their work.

The bitterness and jealousy is crazy.

Yep, I just can’t understand it. It seems to be the best way to take little bits of insider news is not to take it too seriously. I went along with the take over as much as anyone but once it was clear it wasn’t happening I went on with my life as normal :emoticon-0102-bigsm

We are a great club and even better set of fans and thankfully the negative and snipping buggers are just a minority, let them scoff and churn out their repetitive phrases to their hearts content because it just makes them look a wee bit shallow and desperate.

Can't disagree with any of that tbh mate.
As I said, I really enjoyed that thread until the nay-sayers took over, and every snippet of info was derided.

As an aside, compare matchday threads from here and there. Chalk and cheese doesn't come close. I'm convinced there are posters on there that would love Sunderland to get beat, just so they can say "I told you so" type of thing.
    Baffling.

I'll never understand the unrestrained joy and celebrations when the deal collapsed ...

... all so they could post about monorails, etc, even worse they're still doing it and think it's absolutely hilarious.

It was funny the first few hundred times to be fair <laugh>

It amazes me the amount of people that slate any kink of ITK information, yet it is them that are reading the transfer and takeover threads to see what is happening, then when someone that we know does have contacts with the club posts a bit of information they have heard, these people call th liars and say they are full of ****.
If that's the case why are they even reading the transfer or takeover threads , very strange people

TBF some of the stuff people tell me is hard to believe but you just never know.

I was told, recently, that the LD family had enquired about buying an old yard on the Wear.

That was all the lad knew and had only heard it as 'gossip from someone in local government'.

The thing is, do you post that and risk ridicule or play safe and say nowt.

It's no wonder there's a lad, not on here, who has a direct 'in' at the club who doesn't post because he just can't be bothered with it all.

The Sheikh's head gardener, Crispin Sherlock, was at Wembley with us and has been working for the old owner, Sir Ernest Harrison, and the Abu Dhabi Royal Family for over thirty years. The old man had two boxes at Highbury, one for him, his family and guests. The other was for employees, visiting foreigners, his management team at Racal/Vodafone, etc.

Sir Ernest would have huge weekend parties, at his Surrey place where I worked, for 300 people. He had the 1966 England team there, the Arsenal squads and endless celebrities. He'd get Chipperfield's circus to drop off a few camels, ponies and elephants to take people round the grounds. The Beatles visited as did all the big stars in the 70's and 80's.

Cris met loads of stars and some still pop in to see him, especially locals like Brian May, Clapton, John Terry, etc. He's just a local lad who left school at 15 and started as general help on the estate but he probably knows more sportsmen, stars and royals than most gossip columnists.

As anyone who met him pre-match at the Argyle would know he's just a normal working class bloke ...

... but just as much at ease if Royalty shows up in his vegetable garden <laugh>

My hunch is that SAFC won’t be the only only investment the LD’s will make.

we are all on a go slow at the min thanks to the bloody Russians and covid but a few years time will see a boom I reckon and the LD’s might do a bit of revamping on their side of the water ….

The bit in bold still irks me. A once in a lifetime opportunity to have somebody of that wealth own your football club and that incompetent ****wit blew it. Blew it because of his own greed and therefore blew it for all of us.

    I hate him.

I don’t get the spite directed at posters who share information.

They hear something about the club and share it with fellow fans, but they aren't in control of the facts surrounding the information they get and it could change considerably depending on a myriad of circumstances.

They get slated if things don’t happen and if it ever comes to fruition they get slated because some of the detail isn’t exactly as they heard. I honestly don’t know why they bother but hope they continue to share what they hear.

Cheers to everyone who shares info about any subject, it's much appreciated. Every day is a school day <applause>

I read both forums and I must say the "Forum Wars" is much more entertaining than any of this shares business. Especially Vauxie who comes across as a bitter spurned ex furious that his "leader" Berb has left him for a younger model. I think he is in the denial stage at the moment. <laugh>

Mate I haven't posted much lately and people are dropping me a message saying that people are posting that I had said things on here today. Not true. This then causes the usual helmets to start up again.

Pathetic to be honest. Mods just letting it happen as usual.
