When you say you are ITK that we are interested in at least one, do you mean you have knowledge of definite interest in one specific player or just that you know for certain that Saints are aiming to bring in at least 1 CB this window?

Errr... playing Lincoln’s Advocate here, one rumour about a CB being true does not a successful summer make

I think fans of anything have a tendency to oversimplify things. In football we’re talking about complex organisations that should be aiming to develop people and teams as a primary goal. That’s not always linear and it’s a complicated process with loads of different ways to do it. I don’t think SR (or any ownership group) have a duty to explain every decision and those people that don’t understand how the business of football operates are not going to suddenly have clarity when they see it in action. There will always be things to disagree with. Last year (on Not606) we had fans who thought the academy should be defunded because results weren’t good enough. That’s just an example but football fans on the internet and social media often have no flipping nuance about their thinking. Everything bad is the fault of one person, as is everything good. I don’t think fans are meant to be that smart. I do think that they should show more patience and be more understanding of decisions and processes. There’s very rarely things happening which are 100% negative or positive.

The thing is that there are people, especially on Saintsweb, who simply will not have it when this is actually explained. Indeed, on Saintsweb they ruthlessly bully the more logical and pragmatic (if somewhat pedantic) posters. They basically assign a persona to each well known poster and thereafter refuse to actually read what is said (playing the poster and not the post)

Another reason why I don’t actually have an account

Knowledge of a definite interest in a player. A friend of mine knows a player that is being linked with saints

Except that you are not exactly advocating Lincoln’s position. Not really anyway. His prediction said only academy purchases and one mediocre signing and a final day sale of JWP. Sure the implication is “we won’t have a successful summer”. But people are mainly reacting to the hyperbole

<laugh> I am not getting excited at all yet as things change quickly in football. But I just wanted to defend the club because I know that saints aren’t just doing nothing

Is it a player that we have been linked with in the media at all or have club kept this one fairly quiet?

That’s substantially lower than was rumoured. 3m lower than what was rumoured to be our opening bid. Something that made me assume it would eventually be more like 12m

If we think he can do a job than €7m is peanuts relative to the market as a whole

The Packet of Pork Scratchings on their own would've been accepted <laugh>
