OK, OK, I did not watch it in full on both days, and I chose to make myself a cuppa Rosie with a nice sandwich. It was just an opinion and I was well aware I'd get some flak. However, if you look back I was put right by a few readers. Also, I would not like the race to be called the 'Mary', that's for sure.
We still do the pageantry thing better than anybody else but nobody is forced to watch. I bet most of us watched Trooping the Colour for the first time in decades this year even though Liz was not able to take part. I cannot say I have watched the Royal Procession at Royal Ascot in years but I was usually at work sneaking watching the races on a tablet. When there is football on of any description, I switch on or show up at the pub two minutes before kick off to avoid all the adverts and pundits’ bollocks. If you backed the winner it would be the Hail Mary and if you backed a loser it would be the Bloody Mary.
