I think the implication was that if Armstrong goes then we are left with Adams and that is it. And it seems unlikely that we will only have three strikers on the books when we play with two most of the time

And filling the fourth gap with Walcott and Tella is unlikely to cut it either

Yeah that was my point, Unless as you said we are planning on signing long up for another season.

If we end up loaning out Armstrong tho then this has been a awful awful transfer.

Some transfers don’t work out. There is a question over scouting on this one though. But maybe it was desperation for numbers and by that point there weren’t many people available. It was him or Edouard (who was a higher fee and higher wages) who actually moved if I remember

I thought this rumour was made up by a Leeds fan?

Disappointing if true. Either he isn’t happy or he’s really really bad (given the amount of time we give to poor signings).

We're signing Bazunu from Man City so can't see it.

I would suggest Bournemouth is more likely.

Was about to say the same. Southampton airport has more direct flights in.

Could also be that Crocker prefers to shift players on faster than was possible in the past. If Armstrong goes out to Boro and has a good year, we can probably recoup two-thirds or so of the fee paid selling him back to a Championship side. If we let him fester on the bench for another year, even if he then goes out on loan and succeeds, we'd be then trying to sell him with only a year remaining on his deal, at which point we aren't going to get much.

Armstrong isn't good enough for this level, and I didn't see much in his performance this past year to suggest he'll be good at this level in the future. But he's effective in the Championship if fed enough chances, and good Championship strikers command good fees (albeit not as much as we paid for him).

This matches how our transfer business was described. It’s been said that we’re not having a purchase party, but that we’re more manoeuvrable. We can afford to eat a loss on part of his wages for the season with the confidence that we can afford to get a replacement and sell AA in a year or so.

I don’t think I’ve watched him enough to say for sure, but you could be correct. Odd though, we must have felt there was a good chance for him given what we forked out (I can’t remember, was it £17m or something?).

Be good if we could get rid of dead wood a bit faster, feels like players like djenepo hang around for years.

if Arma does go out on loan, then we can then bring in a striker on loan(Delap) and maybe look out for a permanent striker. Think 3 is enough for the squad.

3 is definitely not enough for a side that plays 2 up front. We need at least 4.

Disappointing if Arma leaves on loan, I just hope we get a loan fee and and he has a good enough season to increase value.

Three will be fine - we don’t always play two, even if we look better when we do and we have players who can fill in from wings and I’m hopeful we’ll add/upgrade to that winger/striker role as well.
