Good Morning. It's Wednesday 8th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road O'Brien signature not a priority Elland Road journalist Phil Hay has revealed that whilst Leeds remain in the market for a top Midfielder, Huddersfield Town's Lewis O'Brien is not on their short list. He came close to joining the Whites last Summer, but a deal could not be struck with then Chairman Phil Hodgkinson. After missing out in the Play Off Final last month, it was revealed that O'Brien has a £10m release clause in his contract, and speculation began to grow that the 23yo could be on his way to Elland Road. According to Hay, whilst Leeds are monitoring the situation with O'Brien, they are looking for someone with 'more experience and a proven pedigree'. "As for Huddersfield’s O’Brien, the club do want a central midfielder but from what we’re hearing, they’re focusing on other targets. It’s not that they don’t like O’Brien but, when push comes to shove, his window of opportunity for moving to Elland Road was probably last summer." "I’ve mentioned a few times that Manchester United’s James Garner is someone Leeds have thought about after seeing him help Nottingham Forest win Premier League promotion last season, although, again, it wouldn’t surprise me to see them go for someone with more experience or proven pedigree. please log in to view this image Phillips suffers injury scare against Germany Leeds fans will be breathing a sigh of relief this morning after it was revealed that Kalvin Phillips only sustained a dead leg during England's Nations League clash against Germany last night in Munich. The Yorkshire Pirlo managed only 14 minutes of game time before hobbling off, following a challenge from Freiburg defender Nico Schlotterbeck, who caught him with his right knee. Phillips attempted to play on, but was substituted a few minutes later after he fell to the ground clutching his knee. The early signs weren't good, especially when you consider the amount of time the 26yo spent on the sidelines last season with injuries. After the game, England boss Gareth Southgate reassured anxious fans that Phillips injury, although painful, is unlikely to keep him sidelined for long. “It’s not ideal in any way shape or form to lose a really important player after 15, 20 minutes,” “Hopefully it’s not too bad. It’s quite a severe dead leg. Hard to know how long that will be.” please log in to view this image Whites tempted by Chelsea starlet Leeds could be tempted to swoop for Chelsea defender Jack Clark-Salter after it was revealed that Thomas Tuchel has opted not to extend his deal for another 12 months. The 24yo left sided centre-back impressed whilst on loan at Championship outfit Coventry City last season, even though injuries restricted him to just 29 appearances. His contract at Stamford Bridge expires next month, and whilst Leeds don't particularly need another centre back, why look a gift horse in the mouth! Coventry, Sheffield Utd, PSV and Club Brugge are all credited with an interest in the former England U21 star. please log in to view this image Leeds set to raid Austrian Champions for a third time Leeds could be set to raid RB Salzburg for a third time in as many weeks, after identifying a promising young forward with pace to burn. Versatile Striker Chukwubuike Junior Adamu is an exciting prospect for the future. Not only does he have an eye for goal, but his trickery and close ball control would torment many top class defenders in the Premier League Last Season, Adamu netted seven times, and provided five assists from 30 appearances, including an effort against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He won his first International Cap for Austria last November, not bad for someone who has only just turned 21 this week. Hertha Berlin, RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, Southampton and West Ham are all credited with an interest in the Nigerian born star. According to sources at Sky, he is available for just €10m (£8.5m). It is believed that if Leeds manage to tie this deal up, they would still be on the hunt for a marquee style marksman. please log in to view this image
I heard O'brien is going to West Ham Clarke - Salter, we have enough sick notes. Adams, James has pace to burn, hopefully he had more to give
Hopefully that Philips injury will keep him out for about five weeks. Give him time for a nice holiday and maybe take the transfer spotlight off a bit. We might have a less injury prone player for next season Rasmus doing his medical today. Im thinking this is the first Rasmus we've ever had at Leeds
I've seen clips of Kristensen. I don't like comparing players. However, I think his style of play will make him a fan favourite. He reminds me of Mel Sterland a bit. Hope so.
Wouldn’t mind some of that myself. Five weeks off, fully paid, and a nice holiday - all because of a dead leg
A bit of ambition required now, unless Orta has unearthed another Raphinha. Saul Niguez on his way back to Athletico after a bad loan to Chelsea. A top top player who can play DM and AM plus leftwing back and available for £15m and how about Luka Jovic as the striker again available for only £15m. We will have brought in goals and creativity from Aaronson, solid wing back play down the right, a better International striker than Bamford and a proven CM who can do the Phillips role, cover LB and a pivot in the middle. All done for £62m
Looks like Raphinha might be staying as well as apparently rejected a move to Liverpool, will want to play due to the World Cup and Barca in for Di Maria (free agent so suits them better). I wonder if we’ll need to sell one of Raphinha or Phillips to balance the books or if we’ll be happy to keep both. Agree with doc that 2 x CM/CDMs, LB cover and class ST are required. Not heard anything about us looking at a LB though which is worrying when Firpo looked hopeless, Dallas is injured until next year and Davis didn’t make waves at Bournemouth. Think we also need an experience GK like others have mentioned, Foster would be a good cheap choice as he’s on a free. Any solid rumours for our ST and CM? Seems to all gone quiet since Aaronson and Kristensen has been sorted.
Morning all I thought midfield was a priority this summer. If we're not going in for O'Brien then I'm guessing it's Garner that we're after. Can't see why we would be after another CB unless we're looking to sell one or phase Cooper out in the next 12 months due to his age. If we're going for this kid at Salzburg then are we out of the running for the Argentine lad at NYC.
In for Tyler Adams aren’t we? RB Leipzig, American international so fits the criteria. Looks quality tbh.
That one has gone quiet over the last few days. As he's CDM I suspect he would be back up for Phillips. The thing is we've been linked with Johnson at Forest. O'Brien and Garner since the end of the season. I reckon we're in for another 2 midfielders and a winger as well. If Costa has been as bad as he's been made out to be at Valencia I imagine Marsch will try and be rid of him by the end of August whilst Poveda will have a few admirers in the Championship as he did pretty well for Blackburn when he wasn't injured.
I get the feeling we're playing Moneyball to the full extent this summer and it would make sense as Marsch is American. Wagner's stock is low cos he's a MLS player however he meant to be one one of the best LB in that league. I'm guessing at 25 years old he's got the ability to improve we the right coaching.
Good Morning to Matt Doc rikki wj etc from a chilly Bardsey Looks to me like KP is always injured perhaps it would be wise to sell him now before he loses his value we need a keeper Pope left back a replacement for KP and a striker can we afford all these I wonder
Where does one go to find a top notch left back though ? Plenty of right backs the world over but virtually every academy struggles for quality left backs it would seem. How many are there in the PL aready for instance ?
