Marvelous. The Championship is being paused for 5 weeks from when it starts so hopefully the impact will be minimal !
The cynic in me says we'll be in the bottom 3 after 10 games, the same people who wanted Warburton out before Christmas 2020 will be posting Bill out Now across the Forums and Twitter, and Beale will be be heading for the Guy Fawkes bonfire as October changes to November 22. I hope not, it's the worst of many possibilities. Got no idea how this is going to go to be honest.Think we will need a new striker unless Beale can really get a song out of Dykes and / or Armstrong or Kelman pretty quick. And unless Moses is back fit I think we'll need a new quick Left Back. Not sure if Wallace will still be with us or not, but he or Moses will need the back-up MaCallum gave last season. Hopefully Kakay will improve enough that Moses and Albert if they stay, provide enough cover at Right Back.
I really don't think we will. I don't think we will be pulling up trees either but I think our defence will be better... it will be ....win, draw draw, lose draw win sort of sequences.. but he will sort us out by Christmas
I don’t expect us to be down the bottom Os. We do have a nucleus of a good side. If MB can get our defence working well, keep our spirit and enthuse our core he’ll get some decent performances while moulding the team into his style. That will hopefully then see us improving as we head to halfway through the season. I’m optimistic along with Beth.
Would be nice if we could become a better side from set pieces. Someone will probably find stats to prove me wrong, but I've felt we've been useless from set pieces for ages.
I’ve just done analysis of all the stats for the last 15 years and I can confirm we’ve been **** for ages. Apart from the first half of last season when we we didn’t concede anything from set pieces.
Meh , how many are there? Think I'll give them a rest until the first live video of us actually playing again.
Its back to square one for me. I have no expectations of Beale, mainly because he doesnt come with any. It will take time and patience. We have a basis of a team at the moment, weakened from last seasons departures. New signings, maybe some more going, who knows?
So we can presume MB is starting his first day at HQ today. He will have a very busy in-tray to deal with - squad assessment, club coaches and academy review, board meeting to assess budget availability, players out of contract, player positions to fill, his management team to set-up, pre-season fitness and coaching plans to prepare, pre-season tour planning, media interviews. Fixtures released on 23rd June. Pre-season tour on July 10th. Season start July 30th. The board have brought in an interesting, and hopefully exciting, new manager who, after working in the pressure of the Rangers FC set-up and the challenge at Villa, should be well prepared for his first step into management. He’s walked into two new management roles at these clubs so should know what to expect from day one. He’ll hopefully bring fresh coaching techniques, develop our players with his coaching focus on defence, midfield and attack and bring us further success to bring the club forward. I have to say though that it’s interesting that all those who called for a change at the top have stepped back from any expectations whatsoever from our next phase with a new manager happy with mid-table or no expectations. Almost as though they are scared he might fail (to take us forward). While those who took a different view at the end of last season seem to be more positive and looking towards MB to take us forward, with a reasonable confidence in his abilities, without any talk of his head on a stick. I’m all for him. Exciting couple of months ahead, twists and turns (as is always QPR) with a new bright manager and squad movements and improvements to look forward to. Come on lads, aim for the stars, you just might reach the moon! Come on you Rrrrrrrs!
If Warburton had stayed my expectations of something mid table would have been the same. Last season was a one off special, we would have lost a bunch of players whoever was coach, a lot of those bought in for the play off push last year weren’t fit for purpose longer term.
I think some of us can't be arsed with all this back and fourth regarding Warburton and how Beale will do. It's impossible to have realistic expectations at this stage. When we know what players we have and how we're looking after a few games we may have more of an idea. This "I told you so" stuff either way is a nonesense.
C’mon Col - move forward lad. There’s so much to look forward to!! You can’t live life without expectations (and hope)!
I hope Beale's reputation is sufficiently good and well known to attract bright young players to the club, and that he brings decent contacts with him (incl S American)
I’m sure we’ll be hearing that very soon Didley.. lots of good action to come over the weeks I’m sure.
Can someone please find and post a video of him at a training session on corners , ideally with him saying " Clear the front defender Barton/x/y/x or I will razor your bollox off !"
