lost 1-0 to Hungary not that I care but encouraging that of the 35000 crowd of which 30000 were children roundly booed the muppets supposedly representing England for taking the knee
Pathetic, and Southgate should be sacked
I hope we crash and burn in Qatar you mindless twats

The game England were insipid, and Mr Southgate made a lot of changes which could have affected how wel the ball was moved in possession. In all seriouness l would expect youth players to be able to move the ball as s-l-o-w-l-y as England were.

The knee! Is it just England who now kneel, and why?

Joe Root has just got a hundred, and past 10000 runs. Top man.

Southgate insisting on playing 7/8 defensive minded players stifles any rhythm and creativity. At the knock out stages of a tournament I can see some logic to it as it’s all about not losing first, but in the Nations League against Hungary is not the place. Constant sideways passing across the back 3 and middle 3 is great for possessions stats, but that’s it. As we saw, it then only takes 1 mistake to put you out the game (never a pen though). His crowning glory for me was bringing on Stones and then Phillips when we were chasing the game, says it all!

I would argue Stones is a good passer of a ball and will break lines better than other options. Phillips didnt he just added to the U passing of across, up, back, across, up back across and repeat without tempo. Its a malaise that keeps affecting Southgates England, his CDM's except Henderson are not very good at breaking lines. Its predictable and robotic. Hungary stood in the centre of the pitch and let them go up, back, across, up back across and repeat then nicking the ball when it broke down inevitably.

Southgate has become welded to trendy three at the back football. One of the three has to be better on the ball to advance it and pick out the wing backs quicker and options in midfield. None are particualy stand out with their distribution, Pickford might actually break more lines going diagonal than the CB's.

    Work to be done!

Pathetic performance even for England but Hungary showed their true colours and hatred by the boos from young folk learning how to hate just like their parents. Perhaps they want to go back to the old Soviet days when many of them fled in fear to England and a better life but how quickly memories disappear.

Before the game, Southgate and Kane were trying to big up the fixture.

Do they think we care a flying f***.
It's bubblegum and a practice match leading to a competition that should never take place in Qatar.

I think you’ll find that Hungary’s president would side with Putin if push came to shove

Rather like the NRA in the Excited States, but that's another story. Did you notice that Lavrov's intended trip to Serbia was curtailed by a ban on all Russian flights in the surrounding countries? Is it possible that Putin is trying to bring some of the hate filled Balkans back into the fold? The shelling of Kyiv yesterday just shows that Russia will not stop indiscriminate bombing of anywhere civilian and I fear that the chance of an early end to the fighting has all but disappeared from the radar. It's only a matter of time before Putin pushes the envelope beyond full confrontation mode at which time the West, whoever that may or may not contain as a player in saving Europe from a world war, has to go in and stop Stalin Mark 2 from inflicting mayhem, destruction and mass deaths over a much wider field of conflict.

Nobody stepped up to stop Hitler despite the warnings from many entities and that lead us to the largest slaughter of millions of innocent civilians in history and whether we like to face the facts, or not, it's time to realize that a new conflict like WW2 with today's weapons might destroy the only life supporting planet in the universe forever. Wake up world and face the cold hard reality because if you collectively look the other way then don't complain when there's nowhere else to look. In the best case scenario the hope is that a Russian group with common sense combined with a large dose of humanity will win the day, but don't hold your breath too long.

P.S. Could also be on another post about dangerous crossroads.

Recently they’ve got the job done even when not playing well, against Hungary it was back to the old England.

We were bound to lose eventually, better we got it out of the way now. Tbf no team can play well and win all the time.

Maguire has started to bring his Man Utd form and lack of confidence into the England team the last few games BUT?? Does Southgate really dislike Grealish?? Turned another game on its head and Southgates moaning about Grealish and his tactical awareness. Southgate should of just praised him saying he changed the game rather than saying it’s Grealish fault he doesn’t play him. It’s not the first time he’s coated Grealish off either. He should be 110% starting ahead of Saka especially with Foden unavailable.

I thought England looked very weak again and we have returned to the old ways that bore us to death. The hope of this bunch playing like they are even coming close to success in Qatar is akin to hoping for a return ticket on the Titanic. Boring beyond belief and using the tired end of season as an excuse is poor because they are supposed to be well seasoned athletes and should be more than capable of putting in their usual shift. Thank goodness I will be sailing around South America during the World Cup and will almost certainly be unable to watch most, if not all, matches. Never mind I'm sure I can find something better to do like mug a couple of penguins.

England Italy second half was a painful watch. Last 20 minutes was a non-event. I'm a tough man who toughed the cutting the grass with a pair of scissors game till the end.

Three games, no wins, no goals from open play, cautious team selections and play relying on Souths seven defenders shape.
