I understand where you are coming from mate. After the last four years, I get the stance. So, this isn't a dig mate. I'll believe it when it is done and dusted. However, I do trust lads like Prehab and that gives me confidence. I trust lads like Smug as I know they just want to see Sunderland do well. So, even though I have a Mackem doubt until I see it, I trust the words of lads on here to give me a bit of hope. KTF brother

 

Kieran Maguire is answering a question put to him by football insider about John Reece. They have taken Reece’s name from the Echo, who took it from Roker Report, who took it from RTG, who took it from somebody speculating on here.

It’s a ridiculous Chinese whisper and we’d all do well to pay no attention to anybody talking about Reece unless they have new and fresh logic as to why it’s him.

When I was speculating that Sartori was now closer to KLD than SD & CM you asked why I would think that.
It was pure speculation on my part based upon the fact that Sartori was still attending games and was usually seated close to KLD, oh and had been pictured celebrating with KLD. As further comments have been made, from several sources, it would now appear that there were tensions at that time between Sartori and KLD in relation to the price for the sale of shares that was agreed as part of the initial deal.
So fair play to you.

Perhaps I would do well to remember that all is fair in love and war and not to judge a book by its cover for as they say it's nothing personal just purely business.

Welcome to the board I think you will find that we are a reasonable bunch who like to debate all things Sunderland but who can also see other points of view.

No, it absolutely makes sense like you say. What I mean is all the sources talking about him are basing it off speculation and the more and more sources that do it make it look “real”.

It absolutely could be real. But even all the ITKs are saying they don’t know who it is. So all these press sources commenting on the same rumour are doing us no favours. It’s fine for us that are paying lots of attention as we know it’s just speculation, but for the fans paying only a bit of attention they’re going to think it’s definitely him.

TLDR - the ridiculous bit isn’t that John Reece would buy us, the ridiculous bit is that the press sources are all speculating on it from the one speculation from a poster on here. It’s kinda snowballed. That FI article basically reads like it IS John Reece

 

That's fair and commendable Bob, we all defend our friends if we think they deserve it. That's true on here and RTG where you're defended and derided to an equal degree, as am I.

Sometimes there's more than one truth. Take Kevin Ball for example, some fanatically defend him whereas others can't abide him.

That's because some meet him, they get on and he puts the story his way, others see the truth differently.

I've met Methven, as have other people, and see him as a sly charmer who twists the truth his way. I fell out with him in an Oxford pub when he said something I thought hypocritical and condescending towards our support. I don't find him half as clever as he does. You could defend him to the death but I'll always see him as a confidence trickster. That's not denying you your opinion, just having a different one.

He always reminds of that famous Abraham Lincoln quote,

'You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you can not fool all of the people all of the time.'

 

TBF some rumours start with a genuine throw away comment that turns out to have been correct ... acorns and oak trees.
