I think most people have accepted that we're going down the slow and steady route not throwing cash about recklessly. I'm not sure how you know what our transfer budget is going to be but I never thought we'd be doing anything more than making sensible good quality additions to the squad.
Well, in that case, we'll just have to wait until Jordan Hendersons contract ends a Liverpool and get him then.lol
This, I'd be happy with a comfortable mid table finish with no drama. But, if we are pushing for promotion, some money needs spending.
Who knows what happens in January - I’m sure a conversation will be had if we’re in the hunt come final part of the campaign.
I would hope we look at a strikers, Stewart can't do it alone. My hope is we get Broadhead. People say he is injury probe, however, his last injury was in part due to a tackle. We'll see. Exciting summer ahead.
I reckon we'd all be happy with that, KLD etc included. I think we'll be going for the it's a marathon not a sprint approach regardless of who the mystery investors to replace SD and CM are. If we're looking like promotion candidates in January I'd expect us to push the boat out a little, only sensible.
Agreed. No matter how we feel about the team that got us up, it's nowhere near championship level. I would try and go back in for Clarke, very nice footballer and I'm sure hasn't got long left on his Spurs contract. We do need a striker or two, Broadhead is a no brainer if he's willing to come.
Excellent post and a good example to compare our situation with. They have had a first class youth structure, which we should be looking to emulate. We, of course have a much bigger fan base, but possibly may not be as an attractive location for certain types of players. They have generally gone for the same type of players that we should be looking at. Young and hungry to make a name for themselves and with a good potential sell on value. Other clubs have thrown money at it and failed, others have under-invested, but Southampton are an abject lesson in how to get the balance right.
Sod it, thought I'd watch the semi final first leg with a can and get off to bed. The Earl and Countess arrive on Monday so I really need to focus ... ... but the second leg started before I could stop it so it's another Stella and catch up tomorrow Probably won't get on here much, this weekend, but I hope everyone enjoys the news if it fikters through.
Just need the 3 drunks to get up (albeit Wheatsheaf has been a man down since Thursday night) :-D and see if they can remember what they’ve been told and are allowed to tell us!
I know you can't go into it but this bit intrigues me. Making me think I've of two scratch that make it three things: either there was someone else with even more financial clout also involved that changed their mind/didn't work out, JS was selling his shares and changed his mind or the new lot want to buy his shares and he doesn't want to sell.
Can we really invest that heavily with the financial fair play rules ??? If we are I guess we must have some very good new sponsors to give the club a big financial lift.
