Exactly what I was going to post. The investors could be well and truly out of left field.

The Reece rumour is intriguing as well.

Would love it to be Reece but you’re probably right about it being from left field.

I love Roker Report but rushing to get a pod out with some "news" feels like a risk for them strategically :D

I think the pair of them miscalculated a few things about owning this club.

They didn't fully appreciate the scale of the rebuild or committed the relevant levels of finance to do it.
They underestimated the passion of the fans and the patience to 'become sustainable in League One' - we never will be a League One sized club.
They got carried away/purposefully misled fans on a number of things and then didn't like the backlash when found out.
They overestimated their own ability to understand SAFC, as well as overestimating their own football knowledge. Appointing Phil Parkinson ffs.

Overall they obviously intended to get it done in season one but when Jack Ross ballsed up their subsequent reactions to it showed us all how out of their depth they were. A really frustrating time to support the club but hopefully nothing more than an unpleasant memory from here on in.

I agree with all of that, except the last bit. I think the board ballsed up selling Maja and signing Grigg. That was the costly mistake.

Agree with that, however I think they had a level of arrogance around that going back to the RR podcasts at the time. Soundbites like 'oh yeah we're aware his deal is running out we'll get it sorted' with a feeling of inevitability he'd sign it because he was just a young lad was completely misguided. All the while he kept scoring goals and his stock kept rising, his agent was playing the game with his deal up at the end of the season and D+M left themselves a mountain to climb after that.

The podcast released around the transfer window where they gave him a week to sign the contract or whatever was just embarrassing really. Then the over-the-top reaction from Donald to go and spunk his wad on Grigg thinking it guaranteed goals.

    Amateurish.

Your nothing more than a username and a profile photo to me, I dont know a thing about you apart from this. Your clearly a massive Sunderland supporter / fan, you care about other supporters / fans or you wouldnt post what you do, I trust you do it to give folk like me that little boost we sometimes look for from our club. That to me paints a very good picture, you wear your heart on your sleeve, you care about people in general and like to lift peoples moods. That there is a very good recipe for an all round decent human being. I come into contact with strangers everyday in my line of work, in person, on the phone and by email, 9 times out of 10 I can make a judgement on that person just by the tone of their voice, their body language, even the tone of their emails. Within a few minutes it can go either way for me, they are either a tossa or a decent fella / lady. You seem like a fella I would enjoy a pint with and I have only picked that up on here, there are lots of others as well mind. Brush the snidey comments off and laugh at them, lifes too short to dwell on a stranger on the internets nasty comments. Yourself, Wheatsheaf, Smug and others put a spring in my step this last few days when it comes to my club, to some people that are housebound, ill, out of the country the info you share is priceless.
