Good Morning. It's Monday 30th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Is Che Adams the mystery forward

Speculation have been rife over the past week, since it was suggested that Leeds have been tracking down a top Premier League forward. Several media outlets have suggested that the target is Southampton attacker Che Adams. The 25yo has enjoyed an average season on the South Cost, netting seven times, and credited with three assists from 23 appearances (and a further seven as substitute).

This is not the first time Leeds have been linked to the former Birmingham City marksman. He was the subject of multiple offers during the 2020 January transfer window following Eddie Nketiah's loan spell finishing. Unfortunately, Southampton refused to play ball, and Leeds ended up buying Jean Kevin Augustin!

It is believed that a fee of circa 18m would be enough to convince the St Mary's board to part with Adams, 3m more than what they paid for him two years ago. Would you like to see Adams at Elland Road, or were you expecting a higher profile player?

Town heartache could give Whites advantage in pursuit of midfielder

Huddersfield Town suffered excruciating heartache in the Championship Play Off Final against Nottingham Forest at Wembley yesterday. A 43rd minute own goal from on loan Chelsea defender Levi Colwill was all that separated the Terriers with a trip back to the big time, and a potential £170m bumper pay day; but alas it was not to be!

With Carlos Corberan's team resigned to Championship football next season, Leeds could be ready to swoop for exciting midfielder Lewis O'Brien. The 23yo has been Town's stand-out player last season, and has a 'Whoscored' rating of 7.09 from 46 appearances (4107 minutes of game time). Leeds have already had three bids turned down for O'Brien last year, but are understood not to be messing around this Summer.

The box to box midfielder has a release clause of £10m, which is small change compared to some of the dross Leeds have signed in recent times. James Garner has also been linked with a move to Elland Road this Summer, but with Nottingham Forest gaining promotion, Leeds are more likely to stick to their original plan.

Dallas called up for Northern Ireland role

Jesse Marsch has given Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough his blessing for Stuart Dallas to join up with his International teammates in preparations for their Nations League campaign. Baraclough wants Dallas to attend his training camp this week in a supportive role, as they look to prepare for June's fixtures against Greece, Kosovo and Cyprus home and away. The Northern Ireland Manager believes, having Dallas attend, will give his squad a massive boost.

Dallas, 31, broke his femur during a challenge with Manchester City's Jack Grealish last month, resulting in five and a half hours of surgery. Although the operation was a complete success, he could be sidelined for the rest of the year.

“I know Stuart’s been to the last couple of Leeds games, I saw him on the pitch celebrating when they stayed up to keep their Premier League status,” “If he’s allowed to fly and travel to Northern Ireland and be part of this camp by coming in and popping into the hotel, then we’d love to see him.

“He knows we’re there for him and I will want him to come in and be part of the squad during his rehab. He’s still got a massive part to play in that. “Jesse Marsch (Leeds manager) is aware that I want him to come in, and he’s more than happy for him to do that. “We all play a role in the recovery of Stuart Dallas. Hopefully he can do that and come back fitter and stronger.”

Finance Guru estimates LUFC value northwards of £250m

Kieran Maguire has placed an estimated value northwards of £250m on Leeds United. The football finance guru was responding to rumours that the San Francisco 49ers were applying pressure in their quest to take full control of Yorkshire's finest. Currently, Radrizzani controls the club with a 56%/44% split, but after dicing with relegation, will the Italian businessman be more receptive to the idea of selling up?

According to Maguire:- “All Leeds fans will be delighted the club has maintained its Premier League position,” “If we use Newcastle as a benchmark, Leeds is probably not that far behind. I would expect upwards of £250m in terms of their valuation. “It’s a one-club city and there is scope for future growth, certainly in terms of the stadium.

“The challenge for Leeds is breaking into the elite. That is becoming more and more expensive to achieve. You have to spend upfront before you get the return on that investment.”

    Morning,

I really don't know what we see in Che Adams if the rumours are true. We already have better.

I'd be happy with us signing O'Brien as long as he's not one of our "big" signings or a Phillips replacement. He would be a slight improvement to the squad, add depth, and still has a few years to develop. A couple of O'brien level players coming in is fine as long as its as well as 3/4 big names and not instead of.

I wonder will we have to wait for the Philips and Raphinha contracts or sales to be sorted before we move for anyone. It may be the case if there are expensive options being planned. Doubt the Che Adams thing and certainly would hope for higher calibre signings. whether we get them or not is another thing. BTW to lose kp and Rapha in one transfer window would be a disaster. That's not following Radz preferred Leicester business model. They'd never sell their two best at same time. If it comes to pass, well struggle to be any better next season

    Morning all.

Seems to be mention of lots of targets that we looked at whilst Bielsa was here. Whilst that in itself isn't too much of an issue, as obviously these targets were identified by Orta, Adams was identified when we were going for promotion from the Championship. He is now 2 years older, and not exactly been prolific in that time, so has he reached his limit with regards to natural development, and thus would a different coach or footballing style be able to get anymore out of him. Thus I don't see him as a signing to get excited about. Have no problem if he's one of our targets, but not someone I am going to jump for joy at getting either. I'd be more excited if we went for Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga from PSG ;)

Guess it depends on what you class as 3 or 4 big names. Is Aaronson a big name. Depending upon outgoings, and not counting players that we haven't been associated with previously, I'd expect no more than 1 or 2 players to be signed that the majority of us on here will have heard of, that would be classed as a big signing.

    Morning all

The idea of Adams seems underwhelming tbh. We could get better for less abroad.

I couldn't imagine O'Brien being a starter but he's a wanted man so we're gonna have to stump it up or enter a bidding war

I can see what they like in Adams... he's reasonaly quick, strong, holds the ball up and his link play is decent. Presses well. He 'fits' the profile. Just doesn't score enough.

O'Brien is a decent footballer and Hudders have played him everywhere this season, so he offers flexibility.

So you could argue both would be solid squad additions to strengthen areas where we have been weak.

Just neither get you too excited though do they?

We should have shown interest in Origi before he fekd off to Milan, Che Adams is not the answer.

It all depends on our striker budget though doesn't it. Lets face it, you won't get a prolific at pl level striker anywhere in the world for 30m and at even that would make him a record signing for us. Might be time the old 49ers dipped into their cash reserves and actually invested something in the squad

Che Adams would be a steal at £18M so get him signed up as he'd be the perfect fit for us.

Bamford, Joffy & Che would be a decent forward line to rotate or maybe play all three if we're going narrow ? All hard working forwards but none are the same which is the variety you need to unlock PL defences.

Che Adams was outstanding for Birmingham the year before he went to Southampton. Can score all kinds of goals. Presses well, strong, brings players in to play and makes intelligent selfless runs creating space for others.

I like him and would be happy if he was the striker coming in.

Che Adams isnt going to do it and reckon he has already peaked. If you look at what Southampton have and recently had in Danny Ings well theres a maybe or even more likely would be Minamino who has played his last game for Liverpool and was on loan earlier in the season at the Saints. Young Chelsea player Broja also been on loan there or how about underused Armstrong?

Don't want Adams and TBH don't know much about him. Is he the trouble maker or is it Troy Deeney.

With you on O'Brien not being a "marque" signing, but he'd be a great improvement, if coupled with Phillips, against Klich, Forshaw or whoever else Jesse has paired with Kalvin so far.
