Such recklessness shouldn't be encouraged but have donated. Can I have my money back if you don't survive to finish the race?

    Your sister is your mother
    you all shag one another
    the pompey family

    Through a loud speaker.

    Pompey fan in peace.

At the Great South Run you should be fine in the saints shirt. Not everyone in the city is a complete div and a bunch of you supporting a charity on the GSR should be applauded by all.

My only advice is to maybe bring a change of shirt for the travel to and from the GSR - but even then, I doubt it would be a problem.

I for one, would not wear my colours in Southampton if I was just browsing around West Quay with the wife, but to wear it to a charity run, I would not think twice.

    Good luck with the run!

Jason, that's great. I'm off to Kenya with the Saints Foundation next month to work in a school/orphange for 2 weeks. Good to see other fans supporting them. I won't post my url link to my page here as that would be taking the pee a bit when you're looking for support. PM me if you'd like a read.

I'll check yours out though and get a donation on.

    Good Luck.

Thanks Fran and Fatletiss for your donations, if anything happen's i may have to divert the donations to a hospital appeal rather than give refunds

Despite nearly running the distance on Sunday i'm currently nursing a sore foot, so am more worried about that than the home fans (sure i'll be fine). Even if i wanted to i don't think i could string more than a couple words together whilst running, so no singing from me i'm affraid.<whistle>

Fatletiss, post something on here after Sunday :emoticon-0100-smile

So would that be considered as dangerous?

Not sure how strong your rivalry with them is with me being from the north east.

I assume there's no love lost between the two of you? :)

To try and give you a comparison; would you wear your Mackems shirt into a pub on the bigg market or waterside?

Mind you, I live with a Newcastle lass & have more mag mates than mackems.

The area I'm from is pretty evenly split tbh.

I think when rivals share a city, such as ManU/City and Liverpool/Everton, the rivalry is real but less aggressive because it can divide families. Portsmouth and Southampton are rivals where the fans tend to support their own city. Neither city has an alternative team to support (apart from non-league). Portmouth will tell you it's all about some dockyard dispute..rubbish. Lots of older fans will tell you that they remember attending both clubs..I know my brother (now in his sixties) watched Saints and Portsmouth on alternate Saturdays. The real rivalry started when Saints rose to the top division and Pompey dropped down. They have had a chip since then.

That's a bit like it is up here except our rivalry pre-dates football by 300 years & actually go's back to the English civil war.
