I’ve probably watched Stewart’s goal forty times. Need to see Embleton’s a bit more now.

    <party>

Goalkeeping error from Stockdale but a brilliant move, rampaging run and the shot so sweetly struck. Stand up and take a bow, Elliott.

Just read that through, thanks for posting, bringing in Alex Neal has been the best thing to happen to us pitchwise in a long while. He has been brilliant, we would still be in L1 without him, no doubt about it.

I've thought long and hard before posting this.
I wasn't able to make the trip for various reasons and have looked at every video posted, from Trafalgar Square etc, the match and everything post match including many comments from non Sunderland fans and made this observation.
After days of seeing pitch invasions, criminal damage and assaults up and down the country from 'fan's ' celebrating their teams achievements I have looked on in awe of how well behaved our fans were over a three day period whilst visiting the nation's Capital.
Not once did I see any of our fans encroaching the pitch area at Wembley, hear of any disorderly drunkeness etc when if any fans who've gone through what we have in the last decade or so could nearly be forgiven for overstepping the mark.
I've followed the lads for 63 years and can honestly say this play-off final has risen the kudos of our club immeasurably and can only think KLD must be one very happy owner this week.
    Well done everybody involved HTL.

I can't believe how cool Patterson was.

In fact I thought, at the time, he must have cursed Evans for heading Scowen's shot over ...

... apart from sitting on the attempt from Vokes it was his only chance to make a save for his scrapbook.

    spot on

the only hint of any trouble I've seen is those photos of the flare going off on the train, which was ****ing pathetic.

But one incident like that is brilliant considering the amount of people, alcohol and joy involved.

Credit should also go to Wycombe for that - their fans weren't looking to create any sort of rivalry like others have.

What are your top three things from this season? (only one can be from Wembley)

Hard to pick three but here are mine -

    1. The visible extent of the emotion released on 2nd goal, including in our house where I was watching with my son - I love seeing us so happy for a change.

    2. Broadhead last minute goal against Shrewsbury. That was a must win and I didn't think we were gong to.

    3. Getting Alex Neil - I wanted Keane, but not sure he would have done as well as Keane with what we had. We may well have been saying now something like, 'He's done great so far and will be able to get us up once he's had a full season...'

Honorable mention: Patterson save at Oxford at 1:1 - nuts how good that was.

There were so many things that had to go well enough in that run in, and enough did!

    1. The scenes at the final whistle at Wembley, an absolutely amazing experience with my son and dad and 50k fellow Mackems. It was an honor to be there and be part of something like that.
    2. Sheff Wed at home in the semi - again the atmosphere was fantastic and the black cat eyes/flag displays were superb so I hope that kicks on for the championship and grows.
    3. Wigan away - ****ing demolished them. Class away day.

The only trouble that I saw was when some young lad stepped onto the tube train before letting the other passengers get off. He was rightly told off for his bad manners by a certain member of this forum and looked suitably embarrassed

I was amazed at all the positive reactions, smiles, handshakes and good wishes from complete strangers as I walked from Oxford Street to Waterloo Station via Trafalgar Square. It was not normal for that London.

    Enjoy...

Am dangerously addicted to footage of the game. Am thinking of inviting the lads over at the weekend to watch the full 4 hour SKY footage

In a time of such ridiculous actions of fan pitch invasions, players getting attacked and criminal damage.... FIFA seen fit to give us a mention, not because of an Elvis song, but because of pure footballing passion, decorum and respect for someone else's City. I'll never forget my trip to London. It was perfect.
