(Photo by Federico Maranesi/MI News/NurPhoto via Getty Images) Rotherham United boss Paul Warne believes that Sunderland forward Ross Stewart has all the qualities to cut it in the Championship. The 25-year-old netted the Black Cats crucial second goal as The Lads ensured a return to the second flight after a four year hiatus at Wembley. With the Millers securing their immediate return this campaign, finishing in second position in League One, Warne could not hide his admiration for the former Ross County man. "He's a real handful", the Millers boss told EFL on Quest. "He pinned the two Wycombe centre halves back and it allowed the players around him to play. Sometimes his ability out weighs what he does in the game."
I find this patronising to be honest! A manager who’s highlight is basically managing a lower end championship/yo-yo club tells Alex Neil, who has managed a team to promotion from the championship, he has a great striker! Probably isn’t meant that way but that’s how it feels to me
yeh watching it "live" he definitely didn't mean it like that. He was pretty much saying we already have a striker thats good enough for the championship, rather than needing to go out and buy one.
I'd say we need an experienced battle hardened Championship player like Billy Sharpe. The trouble is they're thin on the ground. I think Stewart will do well but he needs a knockabout partner who'll do some of the hard graft imo. Or just get another SKP from no - league and it's job done
Agree. Warne is a smart lad and is articulate enough to just say what he means. It's not just him either that knows that Ross is good enough for the Championship.
I found him to quite odd when he was hosting Quest with Colin on Saturday. Probably pissed off at all the plaudits his team didn’t get. Came across slightly jealous infact. Very odd guest pundit to have imo.
He was a terrible choice. . No idea how he got Rotherham up ... ... couldn't motivated me to drink beer.
He said some bizarre things at half time tbh. The worst was when he said that the game had gone to Wycombe's game plan
