Just stating that Newcastles aim, and all clubs aim really in modern football sadly, is to become one of the soulless clubs. They have taken a massive step towards becoming one. And if things go to plan they may find that supporting a club that wins virtually every week will not be half as much fun if they sit back and genuinely think about it. They may enjoy the ride between now and becoming the next Man City, but once/if they get there the passion/hope/stress/enjoyment they have now will not be the same, whether they'd like to admit it or not. Most of the fun in supporting a football team is trying to get there, trying to climb up the leagues, get success, trying to win the Premier League. All of that was possible 30-40 years ago but not now. Only chance to do that now is for your club to be bought out by somebody who has made their vasts amount of money by dubious means. Newcastle have potentially done that, basically bypassed the thrill of the chase, getting a cheat code and now have the 'Exploding Shotgun'. Its a sorry state of affairs that football has become like this. Look at Del Boy off of Only Fools. Spent all his life wheeling and dealing in the hope of eventually becoming a millionaire, but when he finally got there due to a massive stroke of luck (as opposed to working his way there) he become bored ****less and felt empty. He missed the thrill of the chase.
Man City despite all the building up and investing in the club still rely on the chequebook. Liverpool on the other hand spend big money but usually within their means after losing/selling a star to Barca. They seem to use the data and scout players that yeah go for big money but not Man City etc... money and are a bit of a risk at their level. So far it has worked for them. Only issue being is this down to Klopp and his team or is it the behind the scenes team finding gems? I believe it's Klopp and a few seasons after he does walk away they will drop down to top 4 as opposed to neck and neck with City. Newcastle will 100% be planning the City route, problem they have is they are late to that party so won't immediately see it work out like Chelsea did and will probably take longer than City!
Just got back from holiday at an up market all-inclusive resort. It was nice to see everybody dressed in very plain casual stuff without a load of huge logos all over everything, not a football shirt in site, until I passed one idiot in a gravy stained newcastle top. No class at all.
That happened to me several years back, at least the skunk wore a different skunk top for each of my last four days... but made me realise what a bunch of pathetic scum they are
The dust has seemingly settled on the takeover at Newcastle, rightly or wrongly. This season isn't even finished and they have the backing of the media cheering them on. They are in conversation with the likes of Man U,City, Chelsea etc for predicted European finishes, potential signings etc. All guess work but the media support is there. However, Newcastle is a play thing to these owners, these owners have rivals, relations etc that love some completion.... it's my thought that somewhere in the not so distant future, we'll be subject of a mega takeover because historically we're Newcastles bitterest rivals. Just a hunch.
The thing to remember is that it is just the craven, slavering and myopic football media that have become quiet. Others will not. Saudi Arabia is a appalling state, ( I know this from way back by the way, and it is worse now!) and will always generate really bad headlines at best, and other, deeper interest. There is no football club up the road now. There is a team , and that team now represents Bin Salman and a grotesque, medieval country that treats murder and torture as ordinary.
Always living in their heads rent free, despite not even competing at the same level anymore. What an absolute shameless and embarrassment excuse of a club and fans they are. If a bloke passed me in the street with one of their tops on i wouldn't bat an eyelid. Just goes to show their obsession and mentality.
Daughter showed me this earlier. To be fair the other mags stopped to make sure he was ok. The shìthouse that hit him ran up from behind and ran away. Hope the twát gets a shoeing from his own.
