That's where our priorities differ then. I'm happy with McCarthy first choice. But I want our new outfield signings to be instant first-teamers.
We are doing great guys! We already have 22 pages of posts and the transfer window has not even opened!! Imagine how many pages we will have when we have signed a new tea lady and a window cleaner by the end of the Summer!!
Let's see how big the wallet, l am thinking there will be alot of disappointed fans at the end of the Summer...
It'll be no different than under Gao. I have no clue why the majority of fans on here think we're splashing the cash this summer. We'll probably sell JWP and use 80% of that money at best. But at least we'll sign a 15 year old "for the future"
We will see, whatever will be will be. "It'll be no different than under Gao". Ï have no clue what you base that on certainly not common sense or logic. We'll probably sell JWP" Really, feel free to explain what leads you to come to that conclusion.
Because the board are aware that we're ****e, and that they haven't got the funds to sack Ralph. So, they'll flog JWP, buy a couple of players for around £10/12mill out of the 40 odd million we'll get for him because the happy clappers will lap it up regardless. Why do you think it'll be any different than under Gao? What is there in this new ownership which gives you the impression things will be any different? We've swapped like for like.
Yeah because surely following through with the “logic” would see some of the sale proceeds going to sacking Ralph. But that is left out Incidentally I’m finding conflicting info online about Ralph’s salary. Some sources say 6m and others say 1-1.5m. A 6m salary would have meant we elected to pay him more than any of our players. Whilst this makes sense it is actually quite unusual at premier league level. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the 6m was actually the total value of the whole contract when signed - putting it closer to 1.5m a year. Also because otherwise his second contract would have seen him have something like a 6 fold increase in pay - which seems rather unusual I’m not sure if there is any way of really finding out for certain. But if it is the lower number we can afford to sack him. And there was some buzz about the board at least thinking about it before dismissing it. If we needed to pay 12m compensation for his final two years it just wouldn’t be a consideration.
I think we need to wait until the end of the window before deciding that dragan is the same as gao. I’m really not getting my hopes up, I don’t know where this selling JWP comes from though. I thought the club had made it clear he’s not for sale.
It's all very subjective from everyone, including me, so there's no point in getting agitated on here. l think more outs than in this Summer and how that goes will largely dictate the overall spend. To me, that's logical. What does that mean to the overall spend? I don't know, but do.think posts on here that we have a big fat war chest are likely to be disappointed. I would think the new owners will be looking at incremental small steps, just because l think that is what l would do. Clear out the dross, look at management infrastructure around the first team and tweak the squad and watch Ralph closely to.see if he can do the job (l.think his time is done, others think differently) but pretty sure they cannot be confident he will dicer.
I'd be surprised if our new management was the same as Gao, mostly because being the same as Gao makes zero business sense. Spending a couple hundred million pounds (and assuming a significant, high-interest loan) and then running the club in a miserly fashion would be a very good way to get relegated and lose a tonne of money, which does not seem logical. The way to turn a return on investment in the Premier League has never been year-to-year profits: it's been in building up the asset value. Building up our value as an asset means ensuring that we're back to being a highly competitive team. Ankersen is by no means stupid, and I very much doubt that he would pursue a stupid business model.
To be fair to Gao, he was hamstrung by the Chinese government preventing him from taking his money out of the country. That’s the main reason why we haven’t had any significant investment since the Gao takeover. Dragan Solak has no such problem raising cash, and he also has significant advantages with the football contacts he has through Ankerson. Of course we’ll have to wait and see, but there is no logical evidence to support an assumption that things will be the same as under Gao.
it’s already very different than under Gao mate. The team that have come in know football and have a proven track record of shrewd business. We are further ahead than we were without a single signing.if fans want 150m pounds worth of business then I’m sure they will be disappointed but the talent we brought in last window outperformed a lot of bigger signings in other teams. I’ll keep countering the negativity when it’s not warranted.
The main thing we need to wait on is how much input those two have. I’m pretty sure both of those are involved with Sport Republic but are not officially saints people. Ankersen doesn’t have a job at saints at all. And how much of his insight he gives to the saints board is unknown at this stage
Well said and not for the first time that similar points have been made in response to arguments with no common sense or logic. Evolution not revolution, I'm looking forward to an interesting summer and hope to get to some of the preseason games.
Rasmus Ankerson is the football guy on the board of Sport Republic, which owns SFC. It would be pretty surprising if he had no input into the club's transfer business.
