The Chairboys are off to Wembley for the second time in less than two years for another League One Playoff Final again against all the odds and its our third trip to the New Wembley in seven years and we will be up against the six times League Champions Black Cats who have an illustrious past winning the title three time in the late 1800s and three times in the early 1900s four of those titles were between 1892 and 1902 they have also won the FA Cup twice in 1937 and 1973, but they have have been in the third tier for the last four seasons making the playoffs in three of those seasons and this is their second final the last was four seasons ago when they lost to Charlton by coincidence they finished fifth that season. Gaz is likely to have a few players back from injury but as they would not have played a game for over a month they will be unlikely to start so I expect to see the same starting line up as started the two Semi Finals. The three musketeers will be a man down for the final as Soldier's wife has booked a holiday to the Lake District and some how he hasn't managed to get out of it personally I think that's grounds for divorce so it's just Slasher and me going up on the train with 25,000 + other Chairboys looking to see the lads complete a remarkable end to the season with a League One Playoff Final TrophyCOYB
A decent thread thanks Guy, that's what happened to me in 2015 a holiday, shall be driving up to Wycombe then catching the train to Wembley
I was just thinking; when we reached the semi-final and lost 2-1 to Liverpool, and when we lost to Chelsea in the semi-final of the league Cup (having drawn in the first leg), what rounds did Sunderland reach? Their history seems to be 19th & 20th century
I'll be there on Saturday. Amanda has booked us, and eldest grandson Harry, in the Hospitality suite. We will be staying in the Skyline Hotel, Heathrow from Thursday to Saturday and coming back on the Sunday. If anyone is close enough to meet up in the Skyline anytime during this period we will be very happy to buy you a drink, or two. Decided it was easier to get a taxi to Wembley as all the Wycombe car parking was sold out. This was my promised birthday present and also includes an arranged visit to the Juddmonte stud to see Frankel
Back at the hotel. Fantastic visit to the Juddmonte Stud. Now proud owners of photos with some great stallions, Frankel included. Tonight it's prep time for the big day, cocktails by the pool followed by meal in the hotel's Indian Restaurant. Signs up on the motorway for the Wembley Final, adverts on Sky - getting really nervous. Will be arriving at Wembley around 1ish, maybe earlier and it's "free" drinks and buffet until 2 hours after the final whistle. Guess who might be pissed, especially if we win
Lots of headlines I'm seeing about Alex Neil this and Alex Neil that. It's all about ****ing Sunderland. Obviously poor little Wycombe don't stand a chance against giants Sunderland with all their fire power and players returning from injury giving them so many options as to which way they beat us. They must be about 10-1 on the result being so certain Should we bother going, having spent £900 on tickets alone? On the form book it looks pretty even to me. All mind games. Always there with a chance until that final whistle blows. Never say die. COYB We'll support you evermore, forever more We'll support you evermore
Just remember Ron franchise beat us four times out of five games this season & it's still us playing at Wembley not franchise
According to headlines Sunderland are playing at Wembley tomorrow. I think I'll just double check that Wycombe are too
... and if I recall correctly, the last time we played Sunderland, they just scraped a draw in stoppage time? I hope we don't get any injuries or dismissals to spoil the game
It was always going to be all about Sunderland being the ex-premier league club but from what I remember they didn't pull up many trees in the Premier League,
Calm down boys. Do you really care what papers say? Do you really care what the opposition say? You have had so much crap poured out about you previously that it should by now be water of the old ducks back. None of it matters it's what the score is at the final whistle that counts not opinions. Whatever it is you have already said it's been a very good season win lose or draw.
I'm still feeling nervous but managed to eat my breakfast,my first pint of Somerset farmhouse cider in a few minutes time will settle me down i'm sure. COYB!!
