It's unlikely to be two sets of loud home fans though. There'll be a loudish set in North and that's it. I'm not personally bothered about moving myself, but it does seem very clumsy to be doing this all over again when it's all been done and reversed before.
Here’s my take on proceedings, Acun has ****ed up putting prices up this season for us in East and West, we’re in a cost of living crisis, and £60 a year, half that for me cos I’m an old ****, is another chunk of money to find on top of the huge increases in, well bastard everything, and pious ****s on twitter and on here saying it’s great value compared to ****ing Crewe or Bastard whoever, doesn’t matter, it’s a price increase for a lot of us, a subsidy for kids if you like. Still no concessions for the disabled, and price cuts for virtually everyone else. Any **** who says you can move to save money can **** right off. Moving E1,2,3 is bollocks, it’s been great in East stand since Allam took over, the looneys in there are now going to be split up, there will be hundreds of free little kids with parents complaining about standing up, and the singing will go from Baritone to Soprano with ear bleeding shrillness. Im not happy with the pricing structure, but still happy Acun is our leader, I’ve still got bad memories of Allam, Lloyd and the Steelers promising the Earth, so let’s wait and see.
I was taking the piss by the way I couldn’t give two ****s about you or your health. Maybe next time when replying you could give me less of your life story I lost interest very quickly.
You really are a horrible person aren't you? Do you ever look at the words you've typed out and think that maybe you shouldn't hit send?
I do agree that raising prices for anything non-essential is risky and I think I would have capitalised on the good feeling by keeping the prices the same. However, there are two stands who are able to take advantage of a lower price, so I guess that money has to come from somewhere. I have absolutely no problem with subsidising kids. They will subsidise my senior pass when I get there and they will get their parents to put more money into the club through snacks and club shop buys. Win win all round.
I am ok fella Don’t particularly like him some of the posts he sent to Barca about his disability was bang out of order.
People who people who won’t have to move As for fans behind the goal, it’s only just over half a stand. I got a seat in E4 because I didn’t want to sit near away fans and now I’ll have one sat/ stood next to me. They should have been bunged at the west end of north stand....**** decision
Agree. They should have done whatever needed doing to make a move (of away fans) to NW corner possible.
The problem with putting away fans in the north west corner is managing to get those fans from the coaches to the stadium at the back of the stand especially if home fans located across the north stand need to exit at the end of the match - it's all to do with health and safety and making sure the away fans leave the stadium at the end of the game with simple access to the coaches with fences making sure that there isn't any mingling - I appreciate other teams manage this but all teams have some system in place to keep both sets of supporters apart after the final whistle
I've never had to move seats and if i was forced too i probably would be a bit pissed off, and im not particularly attached to my seat, i've moved 3 or 4 times of my own accord over the years , i do feel though as this is at least an attempt to improve a match day experience where as anytime Ehab did it, felt as though there was just an element of spite about it . Got to say though when people say KC and atmosphere, my mind automatically goes back to certain games , most of them quite a while ago and the away fans were sat behind the North I think....Swansea , play offs against Watford , Beast scoring against Leeds , Beating Liverpool 3-1 .......I think its a bit of a myth that its a better atmosphere when they are shoved in the corner, I also feel for the people who have had an increase, and its an unexpected bonus for mine to go down, i would have been happy for everybodies to stay same but once again i think it is getting done with good intentions. one thing i do say is i agree that as great as these offers are, i don't see attendances shooting up in their thousands without winning football , its the only way to keep the floaters , i reckon it will add 1k onto the gate to start with but only way it is ever going to get full houses is by pushing at right end of the table, you could offer some people a season ticket for a tenner and they wouldn't come on a cold Tuesday night with Champions league on the box if we were at the bottom, not scoring goals, etc..sad but true.
For me the best solution would've been to replicate the layout we had when we played Barnsley - but tuck the away fans right into the NW corner starting in N1. Smaller allocations could have just say N1 & N2, and larger followings up to say N4 - then make the rest of the North Stand for home fans - thus not having to make anyone move, and having continuous blocks of home fans extending round the NE corner from E1 up to N5 (and up to N3 when playing teams with a smaller away following) Appreciate all of this would need to involve getting the away fans to their coaches / possible extra gates on the concourse etc...but it must be doable.
Giving the away fans 1 or 2 sections of the west stand next to N1 would get them even further out of sight and sound and get the home fans more of the north stand.
Nine years ago, we'd just announced that West Stand passes were to be £572 and East Stand passes were £514. Now, for even the most expensive tickets in the ground, it's £18.26 per game and for the cheapest it's £13.64 per game. If these plans included moving the away fans moving to the NW corner, they'd have been pretty much faultless, but I think that's the only genuine downside. I've been trying to remember the reasons given for the NW not being practical for away fans, but I can't remember what they were. The coaches were one reason, but there were definitely others.
Segregation on the concourse is another reason I think, but I'm sure that could be sorted if we wanted to
it has probably been asked before but what is the reason they cant be shoved in the upper out the way? the upper has separate turnstiles and stairs doesn't it? is it in case they try and pinch Burnsys microphone.
There's several reasons given, one is the rake of the seats (though club's Newcastle's are obviously worse), you have to install netting and they're over the corporate seats where fans are paying well over a grand a year. The exits from the West Upper and the same exits as the West Lower, you mingle on the way out and you'd effectively be setting up a permanent 5,000 seater away end. The West Upper was never a practical proposition, but you'd think the NW corner would be do-able if there was a will to get it done.
