I suppose my point was, that all companies and businesses in the world have mission statements and certain company values, if you don't agree with the principles of that company then go find another job.
I am not anti-gay by any stretch, one of my best mates is gay and my brother in law is gay.....and so is his boyfriend. I am also not religious, I think religion is dumb as ****. However, people should have the freedom to practice whatever religion or sexuality they want. If a guys religion condemns homosexuality, then I dont think that individual should be persecuted and cancelled, unless of course he is actively trying to bring in legislation that negatively impacts the alphabet people, which, as a footballer, I seriously doubt. Let people have their beliefs ffs, as long as they aren't causing suffering to others. And dont tell me that some muslim footballer not being "down with the gays" is causing them suffering! They dont know this man and will likely never meet him, and ones need for societal validation does not trump another persons rights of freedom of religion. No one has a divine right to anyone else's respect. "But we just want people to accept us"....well good, but I would suggest spending more time doing positive things and showing you are worthy of respect, and spend less time trying to ostracise and banish those who dont flaunt rainbow colours. Be the bigger people!
People in this country (UK) still get their heads kicked in for being gay. We have a problem in this country as in many countries with homophobia in the same way we have problems with racism. If the guy don't want to wear the PSG shirt that is fine, the door is over there.
Hi everyone I’m your new manager…please can you introduce yourselves? hi…I’m Dave I’m Pete Ola, I’m Pedro Gonhalez I’m Kuntz I am Abdullah Hi I’m Traore I am Ivan Billy Tyrone Init Hi, nice to meet you…I’m Hung Man Son Hi…I’m Gay…everyone calls me Jonny we don’t need this **** bro…we don’t care what you ****…just pass the ball yeh? jeeez
But that's the thing, people do care, it bothers them and it's getting worse, these are just a couple of examples in London this year. https://www.itv.com/news/london/202...-warns-nightclub-boss-after-homophobic-attack https://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/burgess-park-homophobic-attack-appeal-london-b1000047.html This case has to be one of the worst that i've followed the story of and it was of a Cardiff Doctor last year... https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...diff-doctor-gary-jenkins-in-homophobic-attack Now tell me there's not a problem mate, but rainbows or something.
Your gonna always get isolated attacks mate But blokes and girls walk down the street here holding hands ect and no one says a word 99% of the time.
It's difficult for straight people to see their point of view I suppose. Easy for us all to say get over it, but is it very different if put in their position? It seems to me that the world is very accepting and even to the point of that we really don't care and you should just get on with it. Is that really the case though?
They are not isolated attacks, it took me all of a few seconds just to find those examples. People are as homophobic as they are racist, neither problem has gone away, we just kids ourselves that it has. Then people want to kid themselves and say it's not a problem, it is, just look recently I was shocked to find that the Blackpool football player was the first actively professional to come out since Justin Fashanu, that tells you there is a problem. Quote from wiki when Justin came out in 1990, the wording of it alone says it all... The Sun dragged out the tale with titillating stories of sexual encounters with unnamed MPs, football players and pop stars, which, he claims, were largely untrue. The revelations, nevertheless, earned him a considerable sum of money but he says he was offered even more by others who wanted him to stay in the closet. He admits that he wasn't fully prepared for the backlash that followed and his career in football ... has suffered "heavy damage". Although he's fully fit, no club has offered him a full-time contract since the story first appeared. Btw RIP
To answer the op tho. Football clubs shouldn't have any symbols of any movements or causes on display. Just sponsors & badges & numbers What about when Newcastle add a little saudi flag on thier shirt Best to not have any of it then no one's offended and no one cares
Well it kind of is isolated when you consider how they were treated 20/30/50 years ago. Weve moved on as a society somewhat I like to think
Well on this thread lots of people have taken the stance that being gay isn't a problem and to just get in with it and stop banging on. Then you post some horrific incidents that indicate that maybe it isn't so easy after all.
I'd be fine mate if that was the rule for all, but sponsors is a problem as well, I don't agree with betting advertising, I certainly wouldn't be happy wearing a shirt with a betting sponsor in it....but I have a choice, just don't buy it.
The incident with the Muslim lad refusing to wear a top with a betting logo on it then being caught in the bookies was funny though.
Words are easy mate. You only have to look around on not606 to see some of the language used when referring to gays. Ah yeah but it's only bantz and a joke they'd say.
