Wages, contract length and personal terms all agreed with player and Agents and its the difficult part of dealing with Lyon to agree the fee which the club have a maximum in mind and won't go above. So not done n dusted but if they want him bad it's as good as done.

P.S Paqueta turned us down before Bruno joined as it was him they initially wanted first which was how they were alerted to Bruno.

Paqueta won't be coming here imo.. I don't buy into this idea that Howe is just saying this to keep prices down.

It's not bargain hunt and essentially players agents have a price.

Newcastle won't want to spent all there budget on one or 2 players.

 

Yes he's a decent player, but I'd be careful of paying too much because he's somewhat overrated due to a few big tackles in the world Cup.

 

Yes thats been the amounts suggested and given they spent 100 only 3 months ago and the clubs currently running on fumes it's a big amount.

The likes of Paqueta and Nunez would absorb almost the entire budget and some.

Didn't someone say (@Darren Peacock's Ponytail ?) that they injected £160m into the club since taking over?! Guys, there's money if we need it. The figures mentioned are all subject to creative accounting. Of course we have to be smart about it, can't rock up with 5 superstars (which is what Eddie is tempering) but if we can sign Paqueta for an acceptable amount, we will. Same for Nunez, Philips, Kamara, Kessie, Dybala, whoever. Not all of them will want to come, not all of them will be wanted, but if a player ticks box a (right price), box b (wanted by club) and box c (wants to be here), we'll sign them.

Arsenal were the biggest spenders last Summer at £150m. So even mooted numbers of £90m are actually quite high; then there's the little matter of creative accounting. I mean look at Man C - Haaland, best striker in world football, £50m?! **** off. From City who have more money than God (but less than us)? Absolutely **** off. There's more than that going to Dortmund via UAE, I absolutely promise you that. Two or three times as much, hidden in various ways by an elite team of accountants and financiers.

 

On the other hand they ended the Jan window trying to spend an extra £70million or so (on top of the around £90million already spent) on Ekitike and Botman/Carlos. Caulkin's view - summer budget of £80million + anything we bring in through player sales, increased sponsorship revenues etc. is probably about right.

 

Starting point is probably £100m (Ekitike, Carlos AND Batman, remember?). New shirt deal - easily £15m. Other commercial arrangements - travel, pitch side ads, sleeve, training ground, canteen, official coffee partner, etc. - at least £30m+. Player sales, around £20m?

I'd honestly be surprised if it's less than £150m outlay.

I reckon we'll spend at least £120m (net) with a lot more if the right opportunity arises. Can see a load of our players leaving and as much as its easy to say there's the door don't let it hit your arse on the way out, letting too many leave at once can be just as dangerous as brining too many in without proper analysis.

I'm guessing players coming in will have a strong connection with at least 1 current member of our squad.

 

Anything around 100 isn't too outrageous to believe, but people need to forget Nunez Paqueta and dybala

Take a look back it's very enlightening.

It'll be much more diluted than people think

 

There's two schools of thought. I reckon we will net spend 90-100M in summer. Depending on who is available and at what price. There will be outgoings but most of our desired outgoings won't be worth much. I expect a gross of 120M. They will leave a bit for winter depending on circumstances.

No mega star signings for us but clear and obvious upgrades which will move us further up the league. I'd be very happy with that.
