Don't me wrong, I like many others though Defoe even at 39 would be a threat in leauge one so was happy with the signing. However, for a club with apparent resources we should have been able to sign defoe and backup for Ross. The fact we went with the 39 year-old freebie only is a concern. That's two managers that have reportedly told the owner they don't fancy a player, Grigg (well documented on Netflix) and now seemingly Defoe. When you think back, Jack Ross probably had 3 or 4 players lined up for the money they spunked on Grigg. So that's two occasions we know the ownership have overruled manager/coach.
My guess is if we had started this season with a decent manager we would have been promoted by now, it may not be Alex Neil, who has made a difference already, but it certainly was not Johnston. Who in my opinion has set us back two seasons running with too many very poor decisions to remain a tenable option and steps had to be taken whatever the Defoe situation . .
What a ****ing day that was. Driving down in ridiculous conditions, saw 3 lorries get overturned, 300 mile round trip for that ****ing bollocks.
Good luck to him....it ended bad at Sunderland, but in general I supported LJ, hope he make a success of Hibs
Good luck to him. I was a supporter of his and liked a lot of what he did. Hope he does a good job as have friends in Edinburgh who support Hearts
How many times will he say philosophy in his first interview? In all seriousness I wish him well. I liked him.
Apparently the fans choice was Jon Dahl Thomason! Interesting the club have opted for Johnson over him as he has done well with Malmo. He might need to get off to a flyer to get the fans on board.
good luck to him in his new job...the fact is, if he can find a way to play the same style of football but manage to shore up the defensive side he could go places, until then i'm afraid his 'streaky' tag will follow him around.
