Just crazy that’s what someone’s thought process is on the biggest day in their history in 24 years and he won’t be able to watch the even bigger one next week now.
Action needs to be taken against both teams here. That is an assault in a place of work. Both clubs have failed in their duty of care towards their employees. Absolutely appalling.
A 31 year old was arrested for assault last night and Forest have already said he's getting a lifetime ban.
Huddersfield fans branded 'an absolute disgrace' by Luton boss following play-off semi-final again, fans running on the pitch and abusing the opposition and their bench - I've no doubt this will be cracked down hard and ruin it for the vast majority with teams getting hefty fines for failure to control their fans - it's hard to understand when in a state of celebration at getting to Wembley some fans seem full of hate and are more concerned at taking action against the opposition rather than celebrate with their own team and fans
It's not just fans either. Johnson ran straight to the away fans after he scored last night, and how many times have we seen it? Mitrovic and the lad who scored Luton's first are two that immediately spring to mind. It's definitely a lot more common these days.
Nottingham Forest - Club Statement Nottingham Forest Football Club are appalled to learn that our former player, Billy Sharp, was assaulted leaving the pitch after tonight’s match at The City Ground. The Club will work with the authorities to locate the individual in order they are held to account for their actions, which will include a life ban from Nottingham Forest. The Club would also like to apologise to Billy personally and to Sheffield United Football Club.
It's cowardly ****ers like that that result in measures that **** things up for the peaceful majority.
The fan should offer to take Billy to a future game. That makes assault & criminal damage at football go away, apparently,
No wish to punish the genuine fans but a message needs to be sent out here before a player and/or official is seriously hurt. I mean life threatening hurt. Massive fine plus empty ground for first three games of the next season, no matter what league they are in. I suspect the suits will issue a meagre fine and a slap on the wrist warning. Though suspect the former wouldnt even deter the moronic fringe.
That's true of any environment. If some nutter is determined to go and attack someone that's what will happen. Society relies on people not deciding to do that.
A running head-butt too. The momentum could’ve easily killed Sharp or given him permanent brain damage.
Bit of an overreaction, no? Just a bit of over exuberance. Obviously just needed some older fans to tell him to calm down.... ... I mean it's not like there's a big problem or anything... Just media hype and reporting stuff like this just gives football a bad name. Why don't they report this sort of stuff at rugby yadda, yadda...
Behind closed doors final. That's the only thing that will make a difference. Won't happen though. Shame for the majority but something needs to happen.
Why does it have to be a football related punishment? Really bizarre to me that people think this way. An assault happened. Someone committed a crime. We have a legal system to deal with it like any other assault.
It was an understandably heated atmosphere in and following an important match. and one nutter chose to overreact to the occasion. He's committed a criminal act he'll regret for a long time. I hope Billy Sharp is monitored properly for concussion and the perp gets his just desserts. Meanwhile I also still hope Forest and Huddersfield enjoy their final and fans of both sides don't make the headlines. As I'll be watching on TV I want a decent match too.
