This game just proves that most of our squad players are not good enough to play when called upon. Unless that changes, it really doesn't matter who is manager.
@InBiscanWeTrust @Blue and Yellow Potato Cheers lads for being respectful on our match thread; enjoy the rest of season, good luck against Real.
Sorry I couldn't conjure something from this match, Sadly, someonel else will have to do the Leicester Match Day thread.
I've seen Saints battle and make a ****ing nuisance of themselves against the 'big boys'. And I've also seen some crap over the years. Tonight took crap to a new level. OK, we didn't get stuffed, but only because we were playing a depleted Liverpool side. They were there for the taking and we screwed up. We were timid and got what we deserved - sod all.
Win our last game and we match points and place of last season. Not all gloom seeing as we lost ings.
I agree it was a demoralising performance. But to all those crying out for our 4222 high press, what would you have done about the defence? It only works if we have good full backs pushing high up too, and without Tino or Peraud this wasn’t an option. Ralph chose to try and cover the defence and help a makeshift LB by going 3 CBs. That meant he felt didn’t need Romeu (hence Diallo). Okay we lost but I can understand why we used the tactics we did. My main complaint would be when Adams came on. Go 4-2-2-2 then for 5-10 mins and see what happens. frustrating watch but I get the logic behind it
Am I right in thinking that he should have had a yellow when he took out Broja in the second half and possibly one in the first half where he lunged in? Didn’t see a replay but just saw him lunge and our player left in a crumpled heap…
Well that was so disappointing. Who kidnapped the strutting Ralph and stuck a Ralph mask on Mark Hughes and smuggled on back in to St Mary's a few weeks back. We go one nil up, but our game after that is so negative, some opportunities to break, but the first instinct of the players is to play the safe ball backwards, and JWP was a culprit of that today. We had a chance to bloody the nose of the scousers and we shyed away from it. A bit more believe all round and a result was on. Why, oh why we did not make some subs earlier I do not know. I said to my lad, this game is only going one way, but Ralph will wait until we concede before he changes....... And then like for like, not two strikers. I have always supported Ralph strongly, but boy oh boy, he is making it tough to love him at the moment. Call out for Redders, thought he was good, Lycano, I like the attitude, and McCarthy goodbye please
