"Almost 500 migrants crossed the Channel over the weekend as the total this year rose above 8,000 despite the Rwanda deterrent." These shock tactics, as with Patel sending in the Navy, obviously don't work. They sound decisive but they're just empty words. Leaving Europe means we've lost influence in negotiations there and with France in particular. They'll look at the refugees landing here, turn a blind eye and think 'Oops, your problem now.' We've lost any chance of working with France, preventing refugees arriving or sending them back. So now we own them and don't know what to do with them. Hence these crazy ideas like Rwanda. It reminds me of the opening chapter of Great Expectations from a brutal period when prisoners were contained on floating prison hulks. This problem has been getting worse and worse for a decade now it's virtually uncontrollable. The smuggling gangs have been allowed to organise and become so powerful they're actually providing a service to France in particular and Europe in general. Never mind, we got those fish quotas sorted out ... ... didn't we?
Oh yeah, they're terrible. Like the big facilities management companies, which I believe they do a bit of too. Get the job by offering ridiculously low terms and then have to do things on the cheap because what they're charging doesn't cover it. While they exist, organisations will always use them so they can cut costs. Usually so that they can waste the money they save on something pointless.
Exactly this. Do something ****e, tell the taxpayer you’ve saved them money but in truth waste it on something that doesn’t serve any purpose. It isn’t value for money and the problem appears in multiple places instead of just one.
Another one in this sorry. I do hope that people realise that this level of **** is what will happen to the nhs if we keep the Tories in power with an unaccountable majority. I see the failures in justice as a massive tragedy but the nhs would be much worse.
This doesn’t help our economic situation or our reputation. This is the department creating the Rwanda idea. Waste inhumanity and ineffectiveness just to look mean and gain support in the polls from bigots. We can’t protest about it though because their legislation is designed to shut any protest down. Drifting slowly towards fascism. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...tel-immigration-legal-costs-b2078689.html?amp
We have thousands of vacant jobs with farmers struggling to get crops maintained and picked and they often have barracks, especially in Lincolnshire. Surely some could be taken out of hotels but, of course, that would look weak in the eyes of Churchill-lite.
Boris Johnson falls overboard off of an Isle of Wight ferry, and three young lads jump in and save him. Boris is so grateful that he asks the three lads what they would like as a reward. The first lad said "I would like a new bike" so Boris gets him a top of the range new bike. The second lad said "I would like a new train set" so Boris gets him a lovely new train set. The third lad said "I would like a coffin" Boris asks "Why on earth would you want a coffin?" The lad replied "When my dad finds out that it was me that rescued you I'm going to need it."

To be fair we vote for European mp’s also but I generally agree. For democracy to work it needs to feel tangible. My point is the people who delivered it have done a terrible job of it. It’s a disaster mostly for people who have less income and least power. I’ve no doubt many will fall for cheap gimmicks like this and then have worse lives. https://www.itv.com/news/tyne-tees/...in-sunderland-during-parliament-refurbishment
