Monumental tosser. Always moaning. Not once did he even mention that there are in fact 2 clubs playing tomorrow, not just his hard done by Liverpool. Why should Saints have to have fixture congestion of Thursday-Sunday in what could have been a relegation battle (when they planned the fixtures) all because Liverpool have been successful enough to play in the FA cup final?
GD isn’t really important now. In order for it to be relevant we’d have to win and then draw against wolves while city lost to villa. Could happen but seems unlikely. I think if offered now, every lfc fan would just take a comfortable 2-0 win with a slightly rotated squad and force city to win the game at the weekend.
The only reason clubs like us and 13 others in the PL is to provide work-outs on a weekly basis for the top 6, develop, train and sell players to them, borrow players from them and to keep interest alive, beat them from time to time. When that happens, the officials will be wrong, the pitch unsuitable, fixture congestion, key players injured etc, which of course does not occur in the lives of the other 14 clubs. It's life, and we would be sorely disappointed if we weren't one of the 14, wouldn't we?
It’s like how no one in the media commented on the absolutely devastated squad we had to put out against Man United last season. Nor some of the appalling refereeing decisions in that game from a man who clearly wanted to be in the record books as refereeing the largest victory in premier league history. Pretty much nothing was said
And if it was offered, there's a few Saints fans who would take that too. I can feel an early exit coming on, home in time to catch the end of DIY SOS. The dog will be pleased though .
I know how you feel. We're not the same without Virgil either. At least you don't have to suffer without him for four years and counting. (You're going to stuff us.)
It is getting annoying all these reports of how Gerrard can win Liverpool the title next weekend. I mean, I know we’re atrocious, but we will still vaguely be there tomorrow. I’d use that as a motivator.
Well, whatever happens tomorrow / Sunday, I think it’s fair to say we’ve had a better season than Norwich, Watford, MU, Everton & very probably Arsenal & Leeds. Might even be able to throw Chelsea in there with all their financial turmoil? UTS
I think , as a bare minimum, a good season for Saints would have entailed us finishing above Villa. This is now impossible. I think we started the season slowly before hitting form but just felt that the good work done by Ralph before February has been dissipated. 21/22 has been a disappointment - the best thing has been the ability to actually go to watch the matches again. The fact that you can actually watch the Saints sitting on the terraces of St Mary's certainly revives the connection with the club and I think has contributed to the general feeling over under-acheivement this season. i agree that it is possible for Saints to upset Liverpool but would put the odds at 90% against our 10% in favour of Liverpool. It would be fascinating to see Liverpool drop points and make Man City's taking of the title more emphatic. In the end, City will only win the league by one point.
