BTW... just as an aside. I do not recall this booing at the league cup final? Was there any?

    Maybe sky blanked it out?

Devastated to lose but congrats anyhow. If I'm honest I thought you edged the FA Cup Final and we edged the League Cup Final but it is what it is. Klopp has deservedly completed the set and genuinely glad for him on a personal note.

As for the booing, it's none of my business to judge but I've visited the Hillsborough Memorial and understand why the people of Liverpool feel the way they do about the Tories and the establishment given the entire country turned its back on Liverpool on numerous occasions (and arguably still does).

For me, while only winning one of the two domestic cups in isolation wouldn't have been a big deal to me, winning both in the same season is a noteworthy achievement even besides our PL and CL exploits.

Main reason is because of the fringe players that we've used throughout. All the players that most have dismissed as not good enough, including us let's be fair, have played their part in allowing us to progress and giving the star names a rest to do the business in the league and CL.

I don't like the royals. (I also disapprove of our national anthem and it's focus on the monarch). I'm also not a fan of the Tories.

Don't think booing was right even if I agree with the sentiment.

I'm not a fan of the booing, but the fact that Klopp says it might be best to ask why there was booing, and the Prime Minister's official spokesman simply says there is no reason to boo the national anthem, encapsulates the situation in a nutshell.

I wonder if this same spokesperson is equally critical when England fans boo other anthems, or when fans boo the "taking the knee" or when England's rugby fans boo the "haka." I suspect not. So this guy is being choosy in his criticism. As for anthems, the French oñe is great, as is the Italian. The Spanish oñe doesn't have any words so.you can't sing along to it.

With taking the knee, I guess he's consistent:

On 12 June, the prime minister told reporters: "I disapprove of people booing the England team...I see no reason to do that."

Though that wasn't his first response.

Priti Patel was more equivocal: When asked whether it was right for England fans to boo, she said "that's a choice for them quite frankly".

It's the Little Englander's attitude though, isn't it? If you should disapprove of anything that bears the national emblem, then you're a traitor.

England doesn't have a National anthem we have to make do with Great Britain one.All those who our getting their knickers in a twist about the booing should put the effort into demanding an English national anthem.
It's about time we had our own English anthem, that would then give us another option to boo.<laugh>

She was my local MP until I became ineligible to vote. Sometimes you wonder how she gets in with such a majority. Then again, she seems to fit the mentality of a lot of people in the area. And the candidates she's up against aren't the greatest because it's a safe seat.

To be honest, Britain's national anthem should be about Britain. Not the Queen.

It's like the other scores of millions of people in the country don't matter. I hate our national anthem (not as bad audibly as the screechy American one but at least theirs is about their country)

Britain probably has the worst national anthem in the world. Thematically and lyrically. I know a couple verses stray away from the queen and talk about upsetting our enemies instead... But those never get sung and it's still too bloody focused on one individual not the country regardless.

How did you become ineligible to vote? Anybody voting for Pritti should be disqualified on the basis of Insanity.

You know more about the national anthems than I and about 95% of the population who sing it with gusto (I don't sing it because I can't identify with it)

the national anthem does sound like what martin johnson and tony adams IQ can manage. AKA Neanderthal level.

    Happy and glorious...

It is in the end a monarchy. now you can go back in time and all that but it is one and while parliament lopped a kings head off and made a republic it didn't last.

Lived outside the country for too long (I live in Germany). My parents still live in her consituency though so I'm back a couple of times a year. They don't vote for her.
