Guardian match report say nothing about the forearm smash into Son's head but is indignant that no clubs are buying Son from us <laugh>

****ers don't even pretend to be consistent<laugh>

    Funny isn't it..
MOTD coverage and comments were pretty fair and positive to be honest, but no mention of that incident or any of the other 4/5 bookable offences by Fabinho.

I think the big improvement at Spurs this season has been our defence. Midfield sometimes lack strength and our attack suffers as a result. Kane has lacked consistency through the season with some wonderful displays (at City for example) and going missing at other times. Our 3 centre backs all deserve a mention as does Lloris. I'm going for Dier who has hardly had a bad game.

Yeah Dier has been great, particularly since Conte has come in. He’s become a leader and although Romero is getting all the headlines (deservedly so) Dier and Davies are absolutely the steady kind of players you need alongside him to give him the platform to perform as he does.

Just watching MOTD again this morning and I still can’t believe Hojbjerg didn’t go for goal <doh>

It sums him up unfortunately. He has a few plusses, but there are far too many limitations to his game.
This is such a key role and we need to upgrade before next season gets underway.

To be honest, Nuno deserves a lot of credit for turning Dier around, especially when you consider how he was a player fans really turned on during the ubermensch's time with us

True, our midfield went to **** under Nuno, especially when he was clearly pressured into playing Ndombele and its structure collapsed, but he definitely set Dier and Hugo back on track

In some ways it is to be expected because as we know it's incredibly difficult for a Liverpool player to get sent off. This of course starts by not giving them deserved red cards until the umpteenth time they deserve it. It's become so ingrained in expectations of the media that it's a non-story. And they don't even realise when it is. Because it's just that bit to be a wondrous team [insert all the platitudes here] if you know you aren't going to get booked for your first (and probably second, and maybe third) bookable offences. It's really hard to understate what advantage that is.

Listening to Talkshite out on my long walk this morning (which as I've mentioned before takes me past the training ground), perhaps unsurprisingly it was not exactly an unbiased discussion of the match by Cascarino. Of course didn't mention all the Fabinho non-cards, didn't mention us hitting the post (did mention them hitting the bar), didn't mention (nor anyone else in the news nor anyone else they had on) that their goal was a lucky deflection.

Overall though, if you can with justification comment that we were not far off winning away at Liverpool, it hasn't been too bad has it?

Was walking through my local shopping centre today wearing one of my retro Spurs shirts and a complete stranger stopped me and said great result taking 2 points off pool, then said thanks and gave me the thumbs up and shouted you beauty, I assumed he was a city fan because of his reaction. Didn't know whether to be happy or confused.

I had sent similar thoughts and the Tweet video to a good mate who is a Pool fan. Good chap, generally balanced in views etc, but just came back with 'what about Harry Kane on Robertson'! <doh>

Everyone except gooners and Liverpool fans probably wanted Liverpool to draw or lose yesterday. The talk of the quadruple has intensified this week and rival fans are genuinely worried that Pool will actually win the lot

Now I'm lumping it on Woolwich who strangely have the same odds.

    Some post-match musings ...

    1. If Spurs had a Dembele, the Poool would
have been toast. Their defence were pushing
so high in attack that someone bringing the
ball up to halfway (freeing Kane and Son to
make the movement to attack) would have
    been decisive.

    2. I am surprised there were not halfway line
goal attempts on the Poool GK (who seemed
to be further up the pitch at times than was safe) .

Pathetic whingeing from a guy who in many other ways commands respect. Sad! <doh>

Just ask him how many shots on target his lads had <laugh>

    (Re Graham Roberts tweet above.)

Oh yeah, forgot to say also that on TalkShite they didn't mention that we didn't lose to Citeh or Liverpool this season (in fact extracting the three teams results into a mini league would be fun). Mind you I'm not sure I heard anyone mention that before yesterday we hadn't lost to either of those teams.

And what the hell is Neville saying about Conte? Not a good fit? Good grief. Could *anyone* be a good fit at that disaster area of a club?

The responses to this are hilarious.<laugh>

    The weasel strikes once again.

These people absolutely hate that we are competing better that they are. No humility. Superiority complex turned up to 10.

I really hope Conte is given the opportunity to fix the brittle midfield and show what his real intentions are with a full season.

Give Conte two flying WBs, another top CB and a midfielder who can either dominate or create (then some squad additions) and we’ll then see what these pundits say. The man’s working with just under half an XI he’d likely prefer not to utilise and a squad he probably looks at with shock (as do we). It’s almost as if these pundits also forgot that we finished above Pep in his first season and above Klopp in his first two or three. Time is the precious commodity in football for managers especially the top ones and if they have it, chances are they can do good or great things. Conte’s had 7 months ffs, though he’s absolutely rattling the **** out of certain people and I’m here for it <laugh>
