Charlton Athletic have parted company with manager Johnnie Jackson after the League One side decided against extending his contract.
After getting new owners, they certainly haven't pulled up any trees. They seem to go through managers in the Watford mould, they should have stuck with Nigel.
They really shouldn't, he had them around the bottom 3 when they were expected to have a top 6 finish
Even so, he was there 6 or 7 months, when you inherit a squad, IMO, you need more than a few months to sort things out. I just think owners panic too early and don't give a manager/coach time to mould their idea of a team together.
People are doing it here with Shota. There's been conversations about "giving him the first 10 games of next season". To me it's a bit mental to be talking about how long before you sack him when he's not even been doing a bad job.
I agree, it staggers me how quickly some people jump on the Managers/coaches' back. I've been quite impressed how he has carefully been accessing the players, bearing in mind he has more or less had to do this whilst they are playing, and slightly tweaking the style. He has found the best team with the players he has at present, he went away from that Saturday and got it wrong. He quickly changed it at halftime, but was too late by then. I am quietly confident he will mould a good team together, he is intelligent and calmly goes about his business.
but he’s not doing a great job either….10 games with a new squad is a perfectly reasonable outlook tbh
