Easy to say, difficult to do on short notice. This has to be a wake up call to stop the reliance on Russian oil / gas but to stop dead when so much comes from there could leave your populace without the means to heat themselves or cook. Secondary supplies may have to be ramped up before stopping the Russian imports
Survival of the fittest, need to cull the over population somehow and at the same time boost the economy with BBQ's and fire pits and open up the coal mines again increasing employment... WIN WIN WIN and added bonus the ruskies go in the ****ter.

A very simple and cheap solution would be to ensure gas and oil facilities in the likes of Mozambique, Nigeria, Angola, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Libya are protected, improve the livelihoods of communities around those facilities and limit the capacity of corrupt leaders to stash ill-gotten money in international financial institutions. That will create a win-win situation rendering any single country efforts to use their resources as weapons.
Those are all laudable goals. Doesn't sound cheap or straightforward though. You have to get the politics right to ensure stability without interfering with their systems, you have to invest capital in that country and you probably have to lay hundreds or thousands of miles of oil and gas pipelines. This is all going to take time and money so a laudable goal but not a short term fix (from my admittedly limited knowledge). The question here I have is could the investment in gaining these oil and gas supplies be better spent in ramping up renewable energy production in a similar time period to gain sustainability as well as remove dependence on Russian oil and gas?
