Here is another way of looking at it.
Despite Liverpool’s impressive recent record at Anfield, in recent years, we have had a history of getting results at the home grounds of reigning Premier League champions. We have tasted defeat in just two of our last seven such games - including three wins (Manchester United 2013/14, Leicester City 2016/17 and Chelsea 2017/18).

We haven't always been in the same division since 1912 though. When we were winning the double they were 2nd division, coming up soon after IIRC. I cannot be bothered to look up facts & figures but just saying...

Had a bit of a manic day so didn’t see any of the game, just had the score updates on my phone.

Good win but how was the performance?

    First half boring.
Second half dominant - mainly when Lucas went off and Kulusevski came on.

Romero excellent, Bentancur very good, Kulusevski game changer, Kane and Son just being Kane and Son.

Cant see us sneaking top 4 tbh

We were expecting the Goonz to drop points in their last 3 games and they picked up 9

    we go to Anfield next

5 points behind after next set of fixtures

    buggered imo

Was chatting to a mate after the game who was saying we have to go to Anfield and win as a draw is as good as a defeat in that it still leaves us needing Arsenal to drop points. The only thing a draw would benefit is it would protect us from a potential (but unlikely) swing in GD).

For the mathematicians on the forum, is that correct? Are we just going all-out to win at Anfield?

Just saw some quick highlights, Romero battling for the ball that lead to a goal was lovely to see.

Son’s second and the third goal was beautiful, Hojbjerg’s reaction made me smile

It’s annoying knowing that just two weeks ago it was in our hands but all in all I’d have taken 5th in a heartbeat when Nuno was our manager and up until he was sacked. I thought we were gonna finish midtable or worse under him, we were ****ing shocking under that bloke.

Only grievance is obviously Arsenal being the team to pip us to fourth but all in all I can live with it.

Keep Kane and Conte, then back Conte and Paratici and we’ll give most if not all teams a real game next season, possibly like the Poch 2015-2018 teams.

    He was excellent - again.

If he didn’t get that 3 or so month injury earlier in the season, he’d be my pick for our POTY I think. But he’s missed probably a bit too many games to oust either Kane or Son for me. Likewise Kulusevski and Bentancur, if they joined in the summer there’d probably be a 5-way battle for our POTY. Nice to see some variety again though, we’ve relied on Kane and Son for too long and whilst one of them will deserve the award again this season, it’s not been as dominant as previous years.

It’s why I’m building optimism for next season, if we keep key players and Conte and he get gets more of the players for his system, we’re gonna be a real problem for any team.

Why are some of you talking like 4th is over already?

Stop this reverse psychology <grr> I won’t accept it.

This is straight out of RCL’s book of evil eye.

    I refuse to allow it!

It’s more just a case of coming to terms with time’s running out.

You lot have just won three games in which we were sort of banking on you dropping points in two of them at least. With us bottling it against Brentford and Brighton and now knowing our biggest bogey team in the league is up next, who also just happen to be one of the best teams on the planet at the moment, we’re almost certainly going to be needing a two-game swing with three games remaining after next weekend’s inevitable results. I’d say even the most optimistic of Spurs fans and the most pessimistic of your lot would struggle to see that happening.

it doesn’t look good, and going to Anfield is the worst possible fixture for us. But Everton winning yesterday did us a massive favour. Not because we’ll catch Chelsea, but because Arsenal have Leeds and Everton in their remaining games. This is the worst time of the season to be playing anyone scrapping to stay up. Everton getting an unlikely (but much needed) 3 points has meant that scrap is very much alive. Arsenal therefore play 2 teams in this predicament, where as we only play 1 in Burnley. I may well be wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another twist in the tale.
