Decent performance when the pressure’s no longer on us. Standard Tottenham.

That was the chance today, Liverpool now a must win but add the VAR and ref biased to the fact they’re also really good, how are we going to get anything against them?

We ain’t beating them. They’re miles ahead of us in quality, probably the biggest gap between the two in ages.

We simply have to win the NLD and hope Arsenal slip up in another game. Very doubtful but not impossible.

Easy: dupe their players into diving in their own penalty area, and make sure we get our free headers on target

We need tp play like we did in the first 5 minutes and the 10 minutes in the second half just after Kulu came on. Positive, fast and aggressive with the ball. We should be fit enough to do that for more than 15 minutes in the 90.

Clinging to the fact that so were city but our style of play can work against those teams. Just keeping them out the other end!

Obviously they're skewed somewhat by Lucas being subbed off in the 55th minute, but you can see a world of difference in our shape and our passing patterns compared to the Brighton and Brentford games, namely how we appear to be in the other half of the pitch

Interestingly, this might be related to a subtle switch in midfield by having Hojbjerg sit and Bentancur play higher up, which is the opposite of how that pairing has operated since February, and that one minuscule change seems to have opened up space in midfield because if Leicester wanted to press Hojbjerg they needed to play higher up (at least until Winks replaced Bentancur, which is when Hojbjerg was playing the runner role) - and it seems that Romero and Son were aware of this, based on their passing patterns

Also interesting is seeing how high up Harry Kane is, as usually he'd be operating between where he and Bentancur are on this map - and, again, this seems to be by design as Hojbjerg is getting balls straight down the middle to him

We’re City’s bogey team of the last few years, Pool have been ours for ages even when we were better than them for a period. They just have a knack of constantly getting results against us.

I’ve more or less written the game off. It’s the one team in the league I hate playing, they just have our number and it’s really annoying.

The annoying thing is we need Everton to still be fighting relegation on the last day of the season when they face Arsenal.

We also need to beat Burnley in the penultimate game of the season.

You can see where this is heading...

    Loved that today.
Decent performance but we're lucky to go in 1 nil up imho.
Think we deserved the win for the 2nd half performance.
Thought Lucas was really disappointing, and can not believe that Sessegnon adds anything to the team. He is bereft of confidence and positionally is all over the place.

Son's second goal was brilliant and after a poor start Kane played well.

    Romero was outstanding

Not likely to get to any more games cos no bugger will be giving up a NLD ticket!

So I made 3 games this season and we won
    3-1, 5-1, 3-1... not too shabby!

wouldn't be so sure as we are wide open to a team who can time the quick break with someone who can deliver a pass perfectly from deep . I would still fancy us but the strain of going for all 4 leaves us vulnerable .

PS you do have our heartfelt thanks for forcing us to buy Diaz in Jan instead of waiting till summer .

If after hiring Nuno - and then especially by October - you’d told me we’d finish 5th this season I’d have bitten your hand off. The only annoying thing is that 4th goes to that lot but with four games left and a trip to Anfield next, it’s tough to see us pipping them now.

IF, and it’s some big IFS we keep Conte and Kane in the summer whilst giving Conte/ Paratici the funds and tools to shape this team, my optimism levels will be through the roof for a good season next year. As I said though, some big IFS there.

Generally I’d be envious of that but Kulusevski has been signing of the season in my opinion, we wouldn’t have signed him had we pulled the Diaz deal off. 3 goals and 8 assists in 14 league games so far and he’d probably have about 12+ assists if others finished their chances, we already love our Ginger from Sweden!

As for our game, we just never seem to get a result against you guys. Regardless of form, quality (of either side), it generally ends with a Pool win. I’d bite your hand off for even a draw but I just don’t see it.
