Yesterday 2nd half performance was very poor and it was inevitable that the goals were coming. Who do propose as our new manager?
Although I voted to keep Warbs, realistically no one could survive that drop in form in modern day football. Worryingly it's not just relegation form we've been in it's rock bottom of the table form. **** knows what's in store next season.
Hughton is a good job at Brighton. I remembered he did a spell at Florists and looked at what went on from the oracle of Wikipedia “Ahead of the new season, Hughton was faced with the task of rebuilding his Forest side into a team capable of challenging for promotion. Hughton was faced with seven players out of contract, five loan players returning to their parent clubs and four more players told that they were free to leave, meaning a substantial rebuild was required. Hughton felt that improving Nottingham Forest's attacking threat should be their main priority in the summer transfer window. On 16 September 2021, Hughton was dismissed after gaining just one point in Forest's opening seven matches of the season.” All I felt then was ‘oh ****’ something familiar sounding about that first part.
So you don't have an opinion on playing our best midfielder at centre back? I don't have a name for you. A young, progressive coach would do for me. Warburton would have been sacked by virtually every club in the country with his record over the last couple of months.
Col, I really am not looking for an argument and to be truthfully, don’t really care about about our centre backs. With the Russian-Ukraine war, the sudden and unexpected death of several very close young friends, plus an terminal illness in the near family I have recently taken a step back from posting and “living the R’s”. It’s been a tough March and April. The R’s performances are almost irrelevant, but it would have been great if they were good! I think that everybody is entitled to their opinion and rate MW as a very good manager. He is far from perfect and for reasons unknown to me, we did derail at the end of this season. But I personally would have accepted the decision to give MW one more season based upon his general progress. I would have loved us to have a manager legacy akin to Ferguson, Wenger, etc. That is my opinion which may be in the minority. But this was not the Boards decision and we will have a new manager. I really wish the new incumbent well and hope that he will bring us the progress, results and entertainment which we all crave. Let’s hope that we all have better days, both in and off the pitch!
I’m interested to hear the options for our new manager now. It’s hard to know which direction this board is going in. It seems they want to continue the ethos we have now, presumably a pressing game and developing youth with a resale value. I’m not sure who fits … I imagine Eustace is in the frame - but begs the question, is it more of the same?; Hughton sounds like he’s in the frame and didn’t do well with a rebuild at Notts Florist; Liam Manning is a gamble stepping up. It’s a minefield. It would be good to hear preferred choices from people who wanted MW replaced - the betting list is a suitable place to start. Anyone prepared to make their choice?
What about Gareth Ainsworth. Old boy of course and has been caretaker twice and seems to have done a decent enough job at Wycombe. However, my head is all pointing to Sean Dyce if he is prepared to move south.
Just watched them hammer Plymouth. Very well organised and that Twine does look a player. My first thoughts were, why would he leave MK Dons, they would probably beat us at the moment. He would be up at the top of my list.
Please no to them both. Ainsworth has done well at Wycombe but was helped considerably by the pandemic. Dyche would be great if you want an old school manager intent on playing direct long ball football. Neither for me would be progressive.
Farke, Ainsworth or Manning. While most of them have been successful in the past it has been patchy and I'm not sure our fan base would take to a decline in attractiveness of the football. Some are simply not realistic bets at all. Jokanovic would be good but promotion under him is pointless as his teams simply get outclassed when in the Prem. and are not worth the large sums of money he spends assembling them.
Manning Rowberry (the connection explains why Amit would be talking to Warnock - Rowberry was a coach at Cardiff) Someone I’ve never heard of would be fine. If we go for any of the better known names I cant see it ending well, and it would be a poor reflection on the imagination of Les and the board.
First of all, my sympathies for all your problems. But with all due respect, I could give you a very similar list of personal problems. This is a thread on Warburton, so it's hard to have a discussion on it whilst also having Ukraine and personal problems alongside. Of course you're entitled to your opinion and in fact I'm pretty sure I'm very much in the minority in wanting Warburton gone. No point regurgitating all the pros and cons, but I sincerely wish you all the best mate.
I didn’t want Warburton gone. I like the man. After seeing yesterday’s performance in person, I think Warbs left it very hard for any reasonable person to make much a case for keeping him. Just not sure it’s only MW who should be on their way.
