This! We have been in this position many times and each time we ****ed it. Just because Sunderland have better players doesn’t mean we will automatically win. So many things can go wrong… Sunderland player slips while in own penalty area, accidently brings Morecambe player down and is sent off. They score from the penalty then park the bus. Sunderland player attempts clearance and slices the ball into his own net. Sorry for being so negative; it’s an affliction anyone can get by supporting Sunderland for too long, so beware!
It's a tricky one with Dan Neil tbh. Don't see him as an out and out centre midfielder. More Inbetween likes of Evans and the forward mids like Pritchard and Embleton. If we're still in league one next season I can honestly see Neil sanctioning a move for him if we get good money which will be a crying shame
I know what you mean mate. But there are times when it has gone right as well. It is just the failures hurt and seem fresh at times like this. Reidy's promotion season, Keane's promotion season, cup quarter against Chelsea (what a way to do it), cup runs, blimey we even won at Wembley last year. We arent always the bad luck story mate and I reckon this is our year. We are the form team, we are getting the rub of the greeen, we never give up and we have a gaffer who only has one thing on his mind and has the ability to deliver. Lets harness the positivity and start our return to where we want to be.
Haha. I've just realised that we KO at 1230 tomorrow. The bairns u10 game is KO at Silky at 1210, looks like I'll be playing catch up following this thread. HTL, we will beat them tomorrow, surely? Neil has us as a different prospect compared to LJ earlier in the season.
I think the setup we've got, as in how Neil is as a manager, and the strength in depth the squad has is giving me hope that we've got a good chance. You'd be a fool to write off the chance of us bottling it given what we've experienced in recent years but I think we'll fight to the end.

With you on this Sandy - been let down so many times over the last 50+ years but I feel confident we won’t be disappointed this time, we will make the play offs, not so sure about getting through them though to be honest but hey, stranger things have happened.
Well the Sun's up and today's the day...bring it on and hope were all happy chappies come 2.30 HTL It's a glorious sunny day here at present.
Pretty sensible for me but a mere 1-4. 2 early goals, them demoralised, we let them back in with a silly goal but then kill the game off with 2 more. Relaxed 15 mins to go the fans down there having a pre play off party. Sorted. And RTB we salute you Sir. Thank you for all your efforts .
Haaaaaaaaaawaaaaaaaaaay! day drinking allowed so long as I sleep it off after the match so my first bottle of madri is open with a bacon sarni
Perfect day for football, sunny and a light breeze. Just waiting for the taxi from the B&B down to the Boardwalk. We got here, last evening, just as some Chinese lads were off out for the night. For some reason they all had wellies on, must be a stag night tradition ... ... they must have had a great night, still no sign of them
Sure they weren't off cockle picking....sorry bad taste for those who remember. Re-read this after I posted
Alex Neil has this final message to his players & the Sunderland support ahead of the defining day in play-off race Alex Neil says belief will be key as his Sunderland players look to secure their top-six spot on Saturday afternoon. The Black Cats travel to Morecambeknowing that while the race for the top six remains remarkably poised, a win will secure their chance at promotion regardless of other results. Their task is made more daunting given that the hosts themselves have much to play for. Though Derek Adams’ side have a two-point advantage on Gillingham and Fleetwood, their hopes of avoiding relegation from the third tier remain in edge ahead of the final day. Adams oversaw the club’s shock promotion from League Two last season, and their form has improved considerably since he returned to the club earlier this year. Neil has said that he expects the final day to be ‘topsy-turvy’ as has been the case ever since he arrived, an impressive points haul of 27 points from 14 games still not yet enough to guarantee a top-six place because of the form of the other teams in the race. The Black Cats boss says his side are well-used to the pressure and has not detected any nerves in the camp ahead of the game. “I think we need to move the ball well, we need to make sure we're brave in our decision making,” Neil said. “We need to guard against their transition, they've got natural threats in certain areas of the pitch that we're going to have to nullify. “As much as anything else, you need to believe. “You know in these games because of the occasion and different things, you need to make sure you don't become anxious. Believe in the process, believe in what we do and keep doing it well, so we can try and win the game. “We need to move the ball well and if they press us, which I have seen them do a lot more of late, then we need to be play through or even over or round that. We don't want to leave ourselves loose and make our job doubly difficult. “Our form has been particularly good and you can see the belief in the players, we're unbeaten in 12 and we should take great confidence from that. “This is our final hurdle in terms of the initial job, securing a play-off place. "I’ve not got any sense of nerves from anybody [internally]. “There has been a lot of hard work and I sense more anticipation than anything else.” Sunderland will be backed by a sold-out away support for the game, and Neil was asked what his final message to those travelling was: “Enjoy it, because this is what it's all about, these big games and the chance to have some more on the horizon. “I understand the play-offs is the minimum expectation but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy it while it's there. “Stick with the team irrespective of what it looks like [during the game] because in the fourteen games I've been here it has been topsy-turvy all the way.”
As long as they come off the pitch having left everything on it and with no regrets, that's the least we ask. Get the win no matter how please
