Alfie Jones will return to his home city this weekend hoping to end the campaign with a flourish in what's now his adopted home in East Yorkshire. The Hull City defender was born in Bristol, although he never played for either City or Rovers, coming through the ranks at Southampton instead.

This weekend, the Bristolian returns to the West Country with the Tigers and will likely play a key role at Ashton Gate, as City look to end their away campaign with one final flourish ahead of their final day showdown with Nottingham Forest next weekend.

Jones, who has impressed under new head coach Shota Arveladze since regaining his place in the starting XI, says the chance to go above the Robins in the Championship table is an added carrot to collect three points against a side managed by ex-City boss Nigel Pearson.

“We want to finish the season strongly,” Jones told Hull Live ahead of the long trip south. “We’ve got Bristol City on Saturday. We want to finish above them in the table, so it’s a massive game for us. We're going to prepare for it this week and go there to get the three points on the road."

Last Saturday's thumping 3-0 win over Reading - their biggest home success of the season - saw the Tigers hit the 50-point mark in their first season back at Championship level after coming up from League One last term, and Jones says it's an achievement which should not go unnoticed.

It's a massive achievement, we've got a young squad. A lot of people doubted us at the start of the season to get to safety, but we want to push on now. We've got a young and hungry squad, we've had ups and downs in the season but we've stayed together throughout and now we want to finish strongly."

Hoping we can win and get above them, I don't get the feeling we are on the beach yet.

2 teams with nothing to lose, would be great to see an open, fast-paced game.

Always nice to win, don’t know if the manager will make changes and have a look at anyone he is unsure about although I would imagine he will know by now. Draw for me tomorrow and then finish the season with a win.
