Not a bit surprised considering our form since the end of January. Whilst some of our rivals spent big in the January transfer window, our owners went for bargain basement loans and didn't bother with adding a much needed striker. Any coach/manager who thinks Jeff Hendrick would add to our squad needs to go to Specsavers. I said it at the time, he is well past his best - nothing personal against him as he seems a decent enough lad. Hopefully we can get somebody who can bring us to the next level and keep us in a challenging position.
Very well and good knocking the board , but they have made a positive decision. We may or may not get a decent manager as we haven't got the funds to spend big, but MW needed to go, and where do u get 10k attendance, hasn't been that for a very long time. Maybe u need to stop being negative for the sake of it. Valid points are great, just make sure they are valid and true
If we get the right person in my expectations will be higher for next season ! The new man would surely have his own targets and hopefully we can get some of them in. I don't see Eustace as a step forward if they appoint him, I fear it would be very similar to what's happening on the pitch at the moment.
So that could be a reason why Warburton left him out of games and why Charlie mightve seemed a tad disinterested.
More interested in appearing on Talksport and telling all the managers who they should be signing. Spends more time on social media spouting utter **** these days and has become a bit of a dick unfortunately. Thanks for the memories Chaz but defo time to move on and bring in some younger hungrier strikers
I understand your sentiment Sb but what’s the point in ending with one manager if you’re going to appoint another to take us down the league? My expectation is for the new manager to take us forwards from MW. Surely that is the point of the board making such a decision. A base has been built. There will be contracts up for discussion, some let go, some stay, some feel the grass is greener elsewhere, contract space will be created for new players. New players come in. Sounds like mostly any other of the last three seasons. Expectation should be top 6 surely, minimal would be top 8, outside top 10 has to be a failure. Doesn’t it?
Total madness if the Club is making this decision. As bad or worse than the one made to replace Colin with Hughes. Sad too. Warburton has been far the best Manager since Colin at the least imo. One of the best records across all English Leagues in 2021. Many a team and good players have been developed a long way under his Management. Eze, Willock and Dieng top a list of quite a few. All done under a tight Budget that has meant we hadn't good enough replacements for the key players that have been out since February injured, or carrying injuries or lost form in the cases of Austin ( a Fernandes inspired signing last January) and Johansen. I hope he has made the decision to leave himself, he has done nothing to deserve this. He'll leave us in a far better place than when he came both on the field and financially, which he can do well too. If we find a Manager who can continue his work as well as Warburton we'll have found another very good Manager. He comes across to me on the media as a likeable, decent and honest bloke, and looks to be well liked and respected by the players too. I wish him all the best going forward to whatever he chooses to do next.
Apart from seemingly making the mad decision to let Warburton go, according to the Club statement they will only now start looking for his replacement. More utter madness. Other Championship Clubs are also looking apparently. Competition and we have a limited Budget. Not at all good. About the best candidate they will find on our Budget will be as Clive says - Warburton. I am beginning to wonder if the owners are not continuing to put in the 1.5 million odd a month, and sweeping cost cutting is beginning now
No, we were built to go for it this season, on the basis of a great second half to 2020/21, now we have to start again. If the current bunch are a good enough base which of the 8 out of contract players would you give a new deal to? Wallace Barbet Ball Adomah Odubajo Marshall Westwood Owens. Couple are decent championship players, none would be on the list for a team expecting to compete for top six. Probably sentiment but I’d keep Albert as an impact winger from the bench, not a wing back. If we dump the majority of these, who won’t get us up the league, where do we get the dosh to get in better replacements….by selling players who would be wanted by other teams. This is not a recipe for improvement, unless we have loads of brilliant kids that will be ready next season. Situation would be the same if we kept Warburton.
Lots of good questions Sb. That’s where management knowledge of the team and the next step in our progression as a top EFL team is important. Ahh .. we don’t have a management team any more. Barbet, Adomah, Odubajo are the obvious short-term contracts. Experience yes, first-team and squad experience, Adomah passion. Possible injury risks but would need to be managed (using the player data ). Owens I don’t know enough about to say - but at 24 it’s a decision that needs to be made. Can he make a breakthrough into the first team this year? Dom Ball is a tougher choice. Only played 11 games this season. We should possibly be looking to upgrade for our midfield requirements. Obviously the management will be aware of his future possibilities and how he fits in. We’re clearly in a new phase for the club - and a critical one at that. We’ve made a big decision … and not one the majority of fans wanted. So the board are going to be the ones to be judged here. They need to make a 100% right choice - pressure is on. Hammersmith will be on the everyone’s back otherwise - oh God please not another season of that!
GO...Wallace and the goalies for certain as will Owens. 24 years old, and still playing sporadically in U23. Ball I suspect to, will go too...but we do need another CDM to back up Field, who still has 2 matches to get his elusive 15th card ( so he can extend his summer break into next season) If we can keep Barbet, that would be good, has been really consistent. Moses is talented...but frail. I would keep Uncle Albert and play him as an impact attacker... I suspect if we can get money for Dickie he will go. ( finally is deWisj out of contract, or can we sell him)
He comes across as arrogant, stubborn, whilst possessing zero empathy or self awareness imo. Plus, he's certainly contributed to his own downfall, but, we go around in circles.
No point going round in circles on if it was the right decision as it has been made now. I've no doubt those who wanted him gone can see some of the good things that Warburton has done, and I'm sure those of us who were happy for him to stay share frustrations about how the last 6 months have panned out. I think he can go with his head held high and get another good job in the championship. The key for us now is who we appoint, and how quickly we appoint them. I really hope that SLF, Hoos and the Board have got someone lined up already. Probably highly unlikely, but given Hoos' previous job, is Dyche being mentioned anywhere? Yes, he's got a right to expect 'more' than QPR, but a bird in the hand and all that...
Clives preview of tonights game has a lot to say about Warbs dismissal... https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/news/57681/so-this-is-goodbye-–-preview
Agreed. Most of us can see both sides of the argument I think. I hope whoever takes over is shown some patience by fans.
I can tell you l thought a lot of what he has said to be bang on. Also, the class of manager coming needs to be better…… and that my friends is where we will probably falter. Who will come to this club ( a selling club with almost zero budget ) and expected lower than average, managers’ fee? If we can’t replace Warbs with a better manager, why are we replacing him?
