Regardless of your current assessment it is a sad day for us as he has been brilliant for us in the main under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. He will be a tough act to follow.
And so did Hoop Leif earlier........ All the same subject so a bit of house keeping required.........
This is why we need to make an appointment asap, to give the new manager at the very least the summer to get settled in. Looking back though, Warnock was appointed in March 2010, so had five months to finish a season then put everything in place for what was our title winning season. On that basis, you may well be right, and even if we appoint someone asap, it still doesn't give enough time.
Why? He was going backwards at warp speed. Lost 10 of the last 16, and only won 3 of those. Whoever is manager has a challenge keeping us in the top half next season. This was the year to dream, and until February it was a good one. Any club buying Austin and Johansen on more than one season contracts was obviously aiming for a big promotion push, probably about the maximum risk we could afford under current circumstances. Sadly these players now become stones around our neck.
Manager going and with contracts expiring and loans ending around 10 players players potentially going as well. Not to mention the possibility of one or more of Dieng, Dickie, Willock or Chair being sold. Not going to be a boring summer is it?
Certainly not a time for gloating or celebrating. I felt he had taken us as far as he could and it seems the club agree, unless Warburton himself made the decision. I thank him for all he's done in difficult circumstances. A new adventure soon to begin.
Yes i agree. Im neither gutted or happy. Lets hope that whoever comes in has the ability to move with the game. I dont buy all this 'punching above our weight' stuff.
A quick look on social media has most fans very upset and supportive of Warburton, in line with all the polls. The new coach may have his work cut out getting the fans onside.
Sad to see him go but in the end not surprised, maybe he's decided he'd taken us as far as he could and time to move on....... Makes a change for a Manager to leave on his own terms, fair play to him for the last 3 years in which we've seen some of the best football played by the R's for many years, especially from Jan 21 to Jan 22, shame that we imploded from Feb onwards as we had the Play Offs in our hands, we only needed 8 or 9 wins from last 18 games to be guaranteed and we've managed 3......... Also thank him for that 1 season when we all saw just what a special talent Ebs is.......... Best of luck to him for the future, hope he gets the appreciation he deserves tomorrow night.........
Eustace being mentioned on Twatter, highly regarded by all at the club and would give a seamless handover. Turned down Swansea last year so already earned brownie points...
