Ralph's Saints have conceded more than any other PL team since he has been the manager, now I don't want him to go but something has to change either in the coaching or playing personnel. Thank **** we have JWP and his FKs
Oh yeah. These entire past, what, two months I haven't been taking our "performances" properly seriously. I'd be a heck more worried if we were playing like this in, say, September and October.
I was just about to say this often happens when the head coach is a centre forward. But then we’re not that great at scoring either… Ralph stays but yes he needs help.
CB has been a massive problem for us for so long, Salisu is the only one who I genuinely believe is good enough for us to progress (despite having some weird nightmare patch at the moment). Stephens and Bednarek are squad players at best and I am still not convinced in Lyanco (even though he seems a decent character and possible cult figure). We almost need 2 new first team ready CBs.
For Christs Sake come out in the second half and PRESS !!! Don't just sit back and spend 45 minutes in a state of total panic.
I'm still eager to see what Lyanco is like a part of a two. Feels like we've only ever seen him play within a three (which is clearly not Ralph's preferred formation). In a similar way that I'm wanting us to use these matches to develop a further understanding of Adam Armstrong prior to the summer, the same applies with Lyanco as part of a two. No point waiting to find out in October that he's a total liability in that role (not saying that he is btw, just that we don't know).
The most shocking stat from the commentator was that we have conceded 14 goals from set pieces. That is truly awful and something we really COULD do something about, to help compensate for our Keystone Cops defending in open play. It doesn’t help that Romeu seems to have lost half a yard of pace, in front of them, which means he isn’t stopping balls from passing by him ( as in the OG) or moving the ball on more quickly, as in when he got robbed of the ball when last man.
His free kick ability is a huge reason why we shouldn't sell Prowsie at any price. He has the ability to drag us back into games with one kick of a football which is near enough priceless.
