Ref does not seem interested in refereeing today.

We can console ourselves a bit with how the other results are going - nobody losing their momentum - that it would have made absolutely no difference what McKenna had done this season, we’d have needed close to 2.5 points per game.

We need to finish this game off, something we are not good at, from 1-0 positions.

Bottom relegated team with all the fire and passion to win. What a fade out.

We’ve embarrassed ourselves with this performance today. McKenna has made a mistake to not give younger players a chance, there’s no argument for sticking with the first team.

Garbage, yet another game where we can't score more than one goal.

McKenna needs to sort it out, we've sacrificed scoring goals for clean sheets but keep getting done by late goals because opposing teams give it a go late on when it's still 1-0.

That makes 3 recent games against lower sides we should have finished off, but as Hampy points out, we would still have been well clear of play-offs as the others maintain their form.

Back to cricket my friends, see you later in the summer!

A real depressing end to the season, despite the feel good factor returning somewhat on the pitch this goes down as a massive failure, the worst finish in over 50 years. For all the good will shown to McKenna his recent record is worse than Cooks record than when he got the sack.

I'm fully behind McKenna but I'm also clear that it's going to take more than a couple of new strikers to solve our problems. I believe some of the lack of goalscoring problems are of our own making. I'm fed up of hearing we're not taking our chances...if we think we're going to find a striker next season who doesn't miss chances we're being deluded.

I'm not usually the biggest fan of Mathies commentary (although he does seem to get pretty poor games) but he's the only person who has said he doesn't think it's all to do with the strikers, he said he wouldn't like to play upfront in this team and he highlighted yesterday that on numerous occasions our strikers made really good runs but rather than finding them we just recycled the ball. And when we do get it up to the strikers there's noone running beyond them.

We don't get the ball up top quick enough, we don't play enough first time balls into the box, we don't then compete for second balls in the box. The past 3 goals we've scored have come from the rare occasion where we have put the ball into the box or played an intentional long ball.

I'm not 100% convinced by Bakinson, he's literally the league 1 Pogba, capable of some truly special technically difficult moments but then casual as you like given an easy 10 yard pass away. It's a position you need to be consistent in.

I know many disagree (and i don't think this will happen) but I wouldn't be disappointed if we had the same strikers next season for me the main areas we need to strengthen is LWB, and a partner for Morsy or partners as I think we could play more of a flat 3 in midfield with 2 upfront and finally we need to sort out the supply line to the strikers depending on McKennas preferred formation whether thats through a no 10 or wide forwards or wingers.

I think we have a strong base to build off for next season and a far stronger squad than we've had in years the problem is it highlights our tactical and in game deficiencies which I have seen enough of under McKenna to have some real doubts over whether we can even get into the playoffs next season.

I am sure we share your concerns ITFPC, not a joyful end of season, although we did see some brilliant passages of play in most games. Our ability to score goals, finish off games and close things down, and give away last 5 min goals is breathtaking. That said, we still wouldnt have made top 6 if we had won all those silly games.
I agree we have a good solid base of players for this level, and KM needs to sort matters out by pre-season.

Its going to be interesting what he and MA get up to next 6 weeks! MA must also know he has not fulfilled all the promise.

Interesting reading this afternoon if the source is right. Carroll’s contract is up and he’s not getting a new deal. Town have an option on a permanent deal for Bakinson, I expect they’ll do that deal. They want to sign Celina. Jackson is to be offered a new long term deal. We have an option for another year on Norwood - I reckon that one’s a 50/50. Those are the key ones.

Its the same old story, we dominate the first half but have to wait until time added on to score with a well taken goal by Chaplin from a decent move, in the second half we start well but soon drifted back to the usual slow motion not interested frame of mind, as a result we invite the already relegated side on to us and they oblige with a cracking goal from the edge of our area, in fact Crewe could have scored 2 more and won 3 1 by doing everything we dont do such as keep going to the end and actually trying to score goals.
Piggot showed why he probably wont be here next season, he was totally ineffective with a non existent first touch and the turning circle of the Queen Mary, Norwood tried hard but also inneffective, K V Y improved the longer the game went on and maybe can become the player he was before his serious injury.
The atmosphere was very flat with even our travelling support in a subdued mood which is very unusual, maybe that was because there was hardly anyone there and certainly nothing like the just under 5000 claimed, in fact i dont think there was as many home fans as there was our 1280, so all in all a disappointing last away game of the season against the bottom Club who could easily have won.
