This formation will never work when your full backs for some reason can’t put a cross past the first man on the night, either.

And Pope stopped it from being a draw. Works both ways.

I'd go so far to say that he saved his (Ralf's) job. Another 6-0 would surely have finished him.

I wonder how many we might have conceded in these past three games without him (or the woodwork)? Is 20 an exaggeration?

Interesting that Bednarek is the only CB to play in all three. Just an observation.

Us changing our manager would make us a laughing stock - Ralph has so many admirers amongst other club supporters and in the game generally. It would be as bad as Burnley sacking Dyche.

That said, he got the players he wanted last summer and we're no better off. We won't be spending big this summer either. I don't think we're in flip flops and don't believe the players aren't trying. But the style of play has gone very stale. We were 12 points up on last season before we went to Villa. Now just 3. It looked like our players were in a training session tonight. No pace. No urgency. No passion.

Watches Ralph stare into the distance on the touchline and shake his head.

At least this result brings Everton closer to danger. I don't dislike them particularly but it's always fun when a big team goes down.

We are basically on our holidays already. Safe with nothing to play for, I'm not bothered really, already looking forward to the new season where I will hope for better but probably get much of the same, that's the Prem these days!

I love it how many lose their **** over a meaningless game that may send Everton down.

Yes I am a Saints fan first and want us to win, but every cloud and all that. Not going to bust a blood vessel or get RSI on my keyboard from it.

Just look on the bright side guys, this loss could really help in relegating Everton :emoticon-0102-bigsm
In fact, I'm over it already!!

Rubbish. Static. Fed up with watching this. It really doesn't look like they have the fight. Not sure we won a second ball all night.

It’s acceptable to both think Ralph is a capable manager who deserves money to spend and simultaneously think tonight was a **** show from him.

I always like to be positive after games but I have nothing after that. Ever since Saints got to the quarters of the FA cup their standards have dropped. I don't know if there are issues behind the scenes we don't know about but it isn't good enough.

Fair play to Burnley. Rather they stayed up than Everton.
