Dialogue, cooperation and good relations with France and the rest of Europe ... ... if only there was some kind of organisation for that kind of thing
Smug, we had Le Touquet Accord and then the the Sandhurst Agreement https://www.france24.com/en/2018011...britain-france-agree-new-deal-border-security Until we breached the terms and threatened to withhold payment https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news...tel-of-blackmail-in-row-over-channel-migrants
Have a read of this https://inews.co.uk/news/home-office-civil-servants-challenged-callous-rwanda-migrant-policy-1579449 And would you rather they overspent on this than help families out with poverty?
Aye. Because if the illegal immigrants stopped coming there would be twice as much to help the people who needed it, do you think that’s wrong?
One very serious question:- Is crossing the English channel to the UK and then asking for refugee status actually illegal ?
Are you really saying that we spend anywhere near the same amount of money supporting refugees as we spend on all those that need & receive benefits ??
Sorry but you said ‘if we stop refugees coming there would be TWICE as much to help people who need it’ Thus the finance for both must be equal as l read your post.
No it's not illegal: https://www.scotsman.com/news/why-d...ounces-plans-to-send-people-to-rwanda-3471762
I'd think they would be classed as Asylum Seekers until they are refused asylum in the UK, then they are required to leave, If they go missing they then become Illegal Immigrants surely. I'm not saying I agree with the people smuggling, in fact I think it's disgusting cramming people into something that is not much more than a garden paddling pool but I do have some sympathy for those that want to come here even if it is for economic reasons. I also agree that Asylum Seekers should seek asylum in the first safe country that they arrive in but I'm not in their situation so I'm not a fair judge of what's right or wrong. Edit Montysoptician has just posted a better explanation than mine.
I’m Not going to agree with something that isn’t correct https://fullfact.org/immigration/how-immigrants-affect-public-finances/
In that case why not send them all to Rwanda and when they’ve had their applications looked at welcome them here with open arms if they are eligible.
Ok.but I think you may be talking about legal immigrants not illegal immigrants, are you? Which I would agree with by the way.
If they were from Afghanistan and had helped the uk would you think they were ok to come ? If they were from Yemen fleeing conflict where we provide arms would you let them come ? If they were from Ukraine would you let them come ? or can they all just do one to Rwanda ?
How do we determine who is a illegal and who is a legal immigrant if we deny them the right to apply for refugee status but send them to another continent.
