Baxter Elder Smallwood. Decent display away against a team in a must win situation. Undone by a freak goal that the goal scorer knew little about, and seconds before that we hit the post, if that had of gone in.................?
Longman - our best attacking player Baxter - stopped a cricket score at one stage Smallwood - my MotM for first half. Unlucky with clearance that rebounded for goal but should he have got some height on it? Until their first it was pretty even. Sub par performances from KLP (missed Fleming so much and did nothing), Elder (nearly gave a goal away and not a patch on Fleming going forward), Honeyman (looked tired and outmuscled throughout) and McLoughlin (weak for second goal and his worst game for a while). Shota should have got the subs on sooner. Eaves and Coyle really improved us.
In defence of Elder. He is not Fleming but he was decent today barring that mis hit back pass. Which he did remarkably well to get back and clear the danger with a diving header off the toes of the forward who only had to side foot the ball into an empty net. That was brave defending by any stretch of the imagination.
Baxter - outstanding, especially in the 2nd half. Longman, his best game for a while, there is a player in there if played in the right position. Jones, very steady throughout, unlucky not to score and is one of the better passers in this side.
Baxter Longman Allahyar Decent performance all in all, first half v strong, game turned on a fluke....thought our back 3 looked shaky for the first time in a while today with macca and greaves a bit off it
Baxter Smallwood Longman KLP did not do himself any favours with the watching scouts and managers, he was reasonable on the ball but his end product was atrocious.
Baxter - kept the score down which gave us a chance . Smallwood - as usual did the dirty work . Honeyman- plenty of energy going forward. Decent first half from the team and their fluke 1st goal seemed to unsettle us as they dominated the middle period of the 2nd half . Come on City.
