Regardless of all other goals he may have scored in his life this is the one he will always be remembered and loved for. After the initial euphoria and following the final whistle I can always recall that I just sat in my seat for what seemed like an eternity but was probably not even a minute absolutely exhausted just looking at the pitch. I’ve never felt such relief at a football game or from a football result in my life. We’d been hanging over the precipice for so long and we’d just taken one step back from what later became known as doing a “Sunderland “. Thirty years ago next week. Where does the time go?
Watched this I remember the day well.... I was so young I didn't really understand the importance of it not I remember it being a big thing to people..
Regardless of all other goals he may have scored in his life this is the one he will always be remembered and loved for who could forget that goal he scored v Grimsby
I remember that, was right behind the goal with my dad, we were all rammed in there like sardines, place went ****in apeshit when he scored that. He'll always be a Toon hero, shame KK didn't rate him as a Prem player, but he basically saved the club in 91/92.
Aye I was disappointed when KK didn't keep David Kelly, as I felt he'd been brilliant for us. But KK knew what he was doing.
I loved gavin peacock. Kelly was a solid player but Keegan had a big vision. Those days man. Honestly brilliant.
