I don't know what that means, but if proximity isn't an issue, why aren't we all discussing Myanmar?

And I stand by my point that not being there, not being part of that time, and not knowing the politics of the situation …..I couldn’t say absolutely if I would “pick a side” (as of course is the absolute necessity in Goldie world).

Now if you and Col want to make out that this obviously makes me a Nazi sympathiser then that’s your shout.
I feel, rightly or wrongly, that no point in history can be looked at in its singular action…and that everything, especially in Geo-Politics has to be looked at in a wider context.

Obviously to people like yourself it’s far simpler than that.

Funnily enough I’ve mentioned Myanmar in the past…….who would you say was/are the “Good guys” out there ?

Didn’t we in the west applaud the wonderful ways of Aung San Suu Kyi ? That didn’t turn out well did it ?

In my opinion, and one that you’ll probably disagree with, it emphasises my point about there being no “good guys”

Yes, I remember. Before anyone can take a view on "good guys", they have to decide whether democracy is preferable to autocracy. Anyone who struggles with that doesn't pass GO, in my view. In Myanmar, there is a military junta that is oppressing the people and stifling all attempts at democracy, so I know who I think are in the wrong.

So without the waffle….Was/ is Aung San Suu Kyi the good guy/girl…..a simple yes or no would suffice (as I know you like simple answers without any context)

Well at least you admit you care more about White Europeans fleeing war, over Brown skinned kids fleeing war…..so your honesty should be admired….I guess.

Skin colour's totally irrelevant (you seem to be setting up a case for racism). Proximity is. And historical connections. eg we have a closer connection to the West Indies than we do to Myanmar

All cases have to be decided on their own facts. Myanmar is an internal matter. Aung San Suu Kyi can be commended for attempting to restore a form of democracy, although she is regarded as having taken too hard a line over the Rohingya Muslims. She and her supporters still deserve Western support against the military junta imo

If you think that burning children alive and the rape and attempted genocide of a whole community is merely “taking too hard a line “…..and that a regime that carried out such atrocities still deserves our support……I really don’t know what to say, as I don’t think we can ever agree.

This is a domestic case of bad, and worse. "Worse" is the military junta targets everyone. The West's support for ASSK would be conditional on the honouring of human rights and an international monitoring system.

If you don't like that, what would you do?

I dunno how much worse you can go after the brutal killing of 24,000 plus people….or the rape of 18,000 women and girls….the torture and burning alive of children…….

Ahh I’m glad we can choose the “Good Guys” in Goldie land…

And to your final question as to what I would do…….I just know I wouldn’t be supporting those evil ****s, even though you obviously would. Each to their own I guess.

That’s quite obvious I would have thought as I’m not a politician or world leader.
Although I obviously have more morals than some on here as to not support a regime that carried out genocide and supported the torturing and burning alive of children.
But I guess as they were dark skinned Muslims it doesn’t count anyway in the eyes of some

The U.K. economy and especially certain company bosses make a **** load of cash from the murder of people, from selling weapons to a bunch of these dodgy regimes, the U.K., in part is responsible for these people being refugees.
