. Both our goals came from their f****** up clearances of our crosses. Barbet's og obviously a big mistake but he did well after. Their 2nd goal was mostly just good play from them though we should of course closed down their crosser better.
Well it was a huge improvement in performance, but I wouldn't be surprised if there are 5 or 6 changes on Monday. Expect us to concede a soft goal or 2 and hopefully score 2 or 3 at the other end !
A much, much better performance. By far the better side. Moses and McCallum were excellent. Chair finally started to play again. But for Barbet's embarrassing attempt to clear the ball, a couple of terrible headers by Field and Amos which should have hit the target and two awful passes by Thomas and Dozzell, both simple 10 yard passes to put a player in on goal and both over hit, we'd have won. That's what we were lacking today, a real cutting edge when it mattered. Amos arrived well for his goal but just floated around the pitch in the main. Thomas works hard but lacks quality. Dykes worked hard, but also lacks any real quality. For once, I thought the subs were spot on, although maybe should have been 10 minutes earlier. Well done today. Much better.
Well done to MW and the lads. A 2-2 draw against Huddersfield at third in the league would have been an acceptable result any other day. We needed the win but the team put in a valiant effort and could have had the spoils. Chair looked more his ‘ol self out there. McCallum and Odubajo really worked hard on each side. Field good in the middle. Our forwards are really disappointing for me - lack of effort, no chase in them compared to what we were seeing from Thomas and Amos. Good game though. Edge of the seat stuff at the end there. Anything could have happened.
Agree, apart from Amos. Token effort a lot of the time. Unfortunately, although the subs were spot on, if a bit too late, none of them made any impact at all. I was hoping Austin would get one chance, but alas it never came.
The thing is that none of those teams in playoffs are any great shakes, that's the gutting thing when we can play the way we did, still was expecting the worst today so credit where it's due
No clean sheet in 15 games since January 29th ! Herein lies the biggest obstacle to getting in the play offs or promotion, it's unsustainable. Something has to be done to address this in the Summer, you just can't expect to go up with defending like that. Earlier in the season we were managing to scrape 2-1 wins but once the goals dried up we were doomed.
In normal circumstances with us playing well the subs around 75 mins would've been expected, but with needing to win the game, 1 of the strikers at least should of come on as soon as we made it 2-2 !
Half a chance for Dykes and a proper chance for an Amos brace but just happy with a proper display that got stronger and stronger. Bring on WRDCFC!
They didn't come on till after the 80 minute mark. Should have brought a couple of them on at 70 minutes imo. Then make the last one as a final throw of the dice if there's no injuries.
Yeah I know, they were stood on the touchline for 5 minutes waiting to come on. And then Adomah didn't for another few minutes. As I said 1 or both strikers should've come on straight after it went 2-2 with half hour remaining .
Well i couldnt stay away! Me and the lad went and it was a much improved performance! Especially the 2nd half. Chair was excellent in the 2nd half and the work rate and desire was there to see. Both full backs were also good and i cant knock Thomas or Amos for effort, the latters header was so bloody close! Chair Thomas and Amos were all dead on their feet near the end and thats the least we should expect from a team trying its hardest. We were chatting on the way back and discussing where the season has gone wrong. We both agreed that yes injuries play a part but the crux of it was the change due to the AFCONs. We played with 2 no.10s which was a nightmare for the opposition. When Chair went, we should have played either Amos or Thomas in that role and kept the shape. Same when Chair was back and Willock got injured. I think it suited our players more. I know we played 4 at the back today and at times it looked really shakey but i cant help feeling that when Warbles tinkered is when we ****ed up. Cant knock them today. Well done, pity it may be too little too late
Have to say I expected the worst when we conceded early but that was a fighting display, something we haven't seen for a while. The team looked like they were busting a gut for MW and we dominated for long spells. Whatever happens when you see the players giving everything you know they have a bit of pride and you can't ask for more. We made play-off contenders look ordinary...
Best I have seen from Chair in a long time. That made a big difference to our performance today I think. Thomas still didn't finish anything and I couldn't understand why he was playing and not Gray, but that was the best I've seen from him, great energy running into space.
Great game, and buzzing day out in Huddersfield. We are a better team, outplayed them for most of the 2nd half. Yet again conceded some poor goals, and yet should have won it. Strange how we continue to outplay teams in the top half, but get smashed continually by bottom3 clubs. Thoroughly enjoyed my day out, and also met a Rangers legend heading back up to Hartlepool
