Just heard his pre-match interview with "Paul" from QPR.
He completely blamed the players and took absolutely no responsibility himself whatsoever.
Like some others, tried to blame everything on injuries, even though his poor decisions started before any of these and again had a swipe at fans who criticise him.
    Busted flush.

He slips in the importance of giving coaches time to weather storms. Not sure it is fair to say that he entirely blames the players, but he does blame injuries to key players. We have been unlucky with who has been injured, particularly Dykes, Dickie and Dieng.

He said something along the lines of the players taking a long, hard look at themselves.
He took a swipe at any fans (many of whom spend a small fortune in supporting their team) daring to criticise him.
His dodgy decisions started well before the injury problems started.

It's all excuses with him and he simply has zero self awareness imo.

Are you on about the pre- match interview Huddersfield on the Official today? I got a 100% different impression from you it seems.

He certainly had a swipe at the fans, which is silly, and as you say, shows a lack of self-awareness. Acknowledging the fans frustrations as valid, and showing you are working to do all you can to change the situation, would probably go down a lot better.

    Yep.
Did he have another moan about the criticism from fans?
Did he accept any responsibility himself?
Did he say that the players were disappointed with themselves?

No I don't remember any of that. He talked of the frustration of the players, he was asked about the injuries and said he didn't want that to be an excuse but mentioned almost jokingly the no of Keepers out, and WB's at one time, and how Willock was a special player and Dieng was used to our way of playing and were both big losses. All most definitely true. There was something about negative comments but not addressed to fans in general as I heard it. Just seemed a regular, honest interview to me, not giving away too much about the current injury situation for obvious reasons.

If I've time I'll listen again.

As ever, we disagree on Warburton.
Probably best to just agree to differ Ossie.

I’m sorry, 10 losses and only 2 wins in 14 games would get most managers the sack. By the time I get to Shepherds Bush on Monday we could be looking at the 12th loss.

I listened to the first 5 minutes of the Warburton match preview. At no stage did I hear any hint of self criticism, he didn’t want to make injuries an excuse but listed every single one, implied that he would like to respond to fans criticism but ‘you can’t’……

I have come round to Col’s view that we were in a great place, a place which is really hard to get to, and will be ****ing hard to get back to, and have blown it big time.

Some of you have mentioned he doesn't like criticism....he has mentioned after a bad defeat words have been exchanged but I'm still convinced a lot of words were exchanged early Jan, re Afcon, the rarely spotted Dom Ball, the lack of belief since. . I believe he holds grudges and certainly won't take criticism from the players and tbf he doesn't criticise individuals in public but sometimes they need a good kick up the Rrrrrs Look what happened to Todd Kane!!!! I feel Charlie may have had a moan as his minutes have been limited when we can't buy a goal lately!!! As I've said before even the most useless Managers don't make good players play crap overnight......I was MWs biggest fan ......but!!.........
Also, the amount of times he says we must start on the front foot but start the game like we're 5 up and coasting giving the opposition a good feel of the ball, gaining confidence...always effing annoys me!

There’s no doubt we’re in a terrible rut, but anyone would have to agree that injuries have severely impacted our ability to perform to our previous standards.

I don’t know what the expectations of the board were at the beginning of the season, but I’m sure they escalated when we sat pretty in the top six for most of it. Shame they didn’t give the extra push in January, but I guess we always have an eye on the books.

I’m still not firmly in the camp of getting rid of MW. People seem to be interpreting / reinterpreting his comments as fits their personal views. For me, yes he’s made some bad decisions, but he’s also made a lot of good ones too over time. It’s only my opinion, but I’d give him another season (duck all the flying cow pats here).

As for comments about fans. Come on, fans are fickle - we all are, we can turn on a pin head. He’s being cautious and well aware that keyboard warriors are out there calling for his head, neck and jewels. Comes with the job.

It’s been an up and down season. Will we have a better opportunity for the play-offs? I don’t know. I’d be surprised if we suffer a big loss of our good players in the off-season (as most of them have an injury). Maybe we’ll be in fairly good shape next season along with a few new additions to improve us. Here’s hoping!

    Don't think I've re-interpreted anything tbh.
Did you listen to his latest interview with "Paul"?

He never, ever takes any responsibility himself.
He definitely pointed the finger at the players, all be it in a clever way.
He definitely, like you, blamed injuries, which happened after a lot of his poor decisions had happened.
Anyway, it's all been said now. He's done well under the circumstances, but I can't get past the missed opportunities and my view that he made a horlicks of it.

I did listen to his interview with Paul Morrissey.

We, mostly, like to see a settled side and formation that brings consistency in performance. For a long time we kept changing our defensive line without letting them settle down and become a unit. Eventually we did settle with a defensive line. Injuries affect that 100%. I’m sure you can see that. It’s impossible to have a Dickie - Dunne - Barbet line when Barbet is injured, or Dickie is injured. **** happens - that’s why you have a squad.

There’s no doubt MW has made mistakes - he’s not immune to that. He has made changes, sometimes bewildering to us all. there’s no doubt we have missed an opportunity, I agree. And it’s gutting after being there for most of the season. He has tried things and he has got it wrong - but at least he’s tried. Blamed for no plan B, C or D. Blamed for trying different things.
    Sucks at the top!

Certainly he could be gone if what we’re hearing is true. A new era of gelling, changes and rebuilding looms. As they say ‘be careful what you wish for’.

I’m just wishing for a couple of wins for Easter :emoticon-0148-yes:

Interestingly today that we play Huddersfield who are managed by Carlos Corberan who managed them last season when they finished 20th. He's still their Manager on a low Budget and they are currently 3rd. It goes to show that sacking a Manager after 1 season is not necessarily a good idea, even worse to do it after just 6/8 weeks with a side seriously impacted by injury.
