  1. Sammeh impressed me vs Blackburn, and has impressed me pretty much every time he's played. He's got great pace and decent skill, also his balls into the box are inconsistent but once every 3 or so attempts he'll put in quite a threatening ball.

Does anyone think he should come on my often as an impact sub in the PL? He looks like a attacking mid type player to me. He was definitely one of our brightest sparks against Blackburn.

He was also great vs Villa, and had a great goal ruled out for some reason... <cool>

Should he come on more often?

I could see him producing some match changing moments.

Now to Guthrie. I personally thought he was quite good vs Blackburn. Some good passing, cracking goal and overall he's quite a good player. Not a patch on Cabaye certainly, but decent back up.

Is anyone else content with Guthrie as a back up CM? I personally think he's good player. Nowt special but he can have an impact on the game and has proven effective in most of his appearances.

I've not seen much of Sammi to be fair, but i'd rather we bring on Ben Arfa as an attacking mid to be honest. As for Guthrie, i've always said he's a class player and if it weren't for us having Cabaye and Tiote i'd be happy with him first choice.

  3. Why not both?

    This.

Also Sammi is more of a striker/winger ''type player'' than a attacking mid to be honest.

I've never been one of the guthrie bashers as i think he's a pretty solid player to be fair. he's nowt spectacular but he has a good range of passing and tries hard. he can be a little inconsistent but he's still pretty young and i'm happy to have him in as back up.

Surely can't bring on 2 attacking midfielders? Would just crowd each other out. And like Sanchino said, Sammi is more of a winger/striker? Pardew said so himself. He's 5th choice striker.

I can see that too tbh, Gosling and Abeid are solid though, would need 1/2 more in summer if Guthrie left

Based on what exactly? He's already injury prone in his early 20's. He's not particularly bad, but he's terminally average and if we really are looking to move forward we need better backup than Danny Guthrie, which to be fair we could already have in Gosling and Abeid. Happy with him as backup for now, but he's not fantastic.

He's on low wages probably and can do a job when required after another 2/3 years Abeid and Gosling will be much better and he can move on

I wouldn't say he is injury prone yet, just picked up an injury each of the last 2 pre seasons. And he is a cracking player. As things stand he is much better than Abeid and Gosling.

I could see Guthrie ending up at Stoke or Bolton next year, shame like, he's not a bad squad player.

Hopefully we can keep hold of Guthrie - he's an excellent squad player and is still only young

Guthrie staked a good claim, it's just a shame (for him) that Cabaye is so good. While the two played some lovely football together we really missed Tiote's steel.

It'll be Guthrie and Cabaye against Stoke since Tiote is still 'doubtful'. He a decent squad player but completely different to Tiote obviously.

There's still people ages of Sammy as well e.g. Marv, HBA, Shola, Santon, vuckic or loverman possibly too.

Guthrie played better than Cabaye vs B'burn IMO.

No Sammy isn't good enough for the Prem, take off the rose tinted black & white specs, another player who needs some 1st team football on loan. People knock Jonas's crossing Sammy is abysmal compared to Jonas. At present he is a propect nothing more.

    Guthrie - meh.

Thats faint praise in a game we lost and the team looked to have a collective stinker.

I'm no real Guthrie fan as I see him just as a standard squad player to cover injuries.

If he was sold on I wouldn't lament his transfer just as I'm not overly fussed if he signed a new deal.
