I think the reason we didn’t address the striker situation in January was to do with the transfer window at that time. Prices are massively inflated and maybe KMc wanted to see what he had already. For me, Bonne will go back to QPR this summer and they will sell him on. Norwood is a red card waiting to happen every game (really lucky against Cambridge) & Piggott can only play in a 2 which we don’t play. I would keep Jackson just because of his pace and he does give the team something different when he plays. As for next season, the goal has to be challenging for automatic promotion. With the money we’ve already spent and with a few more signings likely in the summer (although a few will leave as well) we have to think big. I’m not saying we’ll get it but we at least have to try

I've found who's in favour in terms of our strikers over the past year quite confusing, it would be interesting to see a poll of fans in the past year of who the favoured choice is at different points in the year, I'm pretty sure all 4 of our first team strikers would all have been both top and bottom at some point but one thing I would never have bet on would be Jackson to now seem to the the fans choice for our best striker after 3 half decent games. I seem to recall being a lone voice in saying I thought Jackson could make an impact at this level a couple of months back (mind you mainly off the bench). Clearly the phrase you're only as good as your last game is taken over form is temporary class is permanent here.

When I hear what people want from a striker in our team, they say someone proven to score goals at this level...pretty much all of them, someone to stretch the defence..all can play on the shoulder of the last defender bar Pigott and then we need more players who do the dirty side of the game...Bonne and especially Norwood, who hasn't been sent off in his Town career. But when Morsey nearly gets sent off (or punches someone) its what we need.

For me the fact our favoured strikers has changed pretty much on a weekly basis is a result of the fact their supply line hasn't been the best and they haven't been given a run in the team.

Valid points, but for whatever the reason and we can debate all summer, we havent been scoring goals. On balance, I too have preferred two up front.

I don't think any one is bring doom and gloom at all. I doubt there is anyone who isn't behind McKenna and who is not impressed with what he's done so far and there will always be chance to critique otherwise the fans forums would be pointless.

It feels like there is alot to be optimistic about but conversation on fans forums probably aren't too dissimilar to what they have been the past few seasons, next season is always going to be the season and it never is, so you can't blame some fans for showing some scepticism.

And there are a few things for consideration if next season is to be successful. Playing devils advocate let's not forget McKennas form isn't too different to that which saw Paul Cook get the sack (take PCs last 14 games and McKennas last 14 and the average points per game is the same 1.71). With the number of changes over the summer the second half of the season was always going to be better than the first with the team going through various stages of forming. And until the end of this season with Wigan and Rotherham still to come McKenna has had a fairly favourable run of fixtures. And whatever people think of our strikers we still given the quality we have should have scored more goals. Even if we bring in better strikers we'll need to improve how we play to allow them to score goals...obviously Rome wasnt built in a day but you'd hope even if we keep the same strikers next season it's an area McKenna can improve.

Add to this the form of the top teams in this division has been remarkable and the bottom awful (which we have played many) and looking at our best performances this season they have generally come against those teams. If next season is like this we're going to have to maintain promotion form just to get in the playoffs.

It's great to see us playing good football and the crowds coming back but again is this just a new manager bounce or can he maintain it through a whole season. The conversations about being optimistic about next season have happened under all of our previous managers at some point

What context? This is complete nonsense.

It's meaningless to extrapolate a shorter run of games, especially a run with a new manager bounce, to a whole season.

For all the monumental hype, huff and guff we blew it this season. We could not find a way to beat mid-table third tier sides.

We will get there eventually with these owners but McKenna massively needs to up his game for it to happen next season. He's made a complete mess of the strategy up front.

I think the biggest progress we've made this year, is not on the pitch, but off the pitch and behind the scenes.
The owners mean business, and are not afraid to put their hands in their pocket to help us be a more exciting and sustainable business. Managers and players come and go, systems tweaked. For this club to move forward into the 21st century, the business model needed to be improved. They obviously have their sights set rather high, and are looking to move up the leagues, and hopefully make us a premiership club in the next 5+ years.
Yes, we seem to be playing more attractive football, even if we have only scored 8 goals in our last nine games (and 6 of those games were against teams in the bottom half).

I'm not 100% convinced with KM yet, but he's a very young man, with no managerial experience, so i'm pretty sure he'll improve us on the pitch, and will fix the weaknesses we have in the squad.

Just to throw in my penny regarding the strikers at our club, and i'll probably get shot down for this, but i think Piggott should be our main striker next season (based on what we currently have) - Norwood should be released, and Bonne doesn't do it for me. As for Simpson, well, he could be anything, but there's no harm in playing him in the next few games to see how he adapts

Agree with much if what you say Stretchy but not to keep the Pig!

Our backers are in it for long term, KM is learning his craft and done pretty well all things considered. The Club has undergone major overhaul.
